Just watched Channel 7 news again. It was a Grade 12 school formal in Southport, on the Gold Coast. They had limo's, porkers, a white H2 Hummer with 26' bling wheels or whatever they were, Ferrari, old American convertible cars ect..... dropping off the school kids. All the kids looked great. One girl said she had her dress flown in from Paris at a cost of $3K. A special dress, for a special occasion she said!! Another girl bought $1500 worth of jewellery for the night. A young fella paid $3K for a Versace suit for the night. Alot of do-gooders on the news were saying that alot of the kids/families spent the amount of money, that you would normally spend on a wedding. Thousands!! They also reckon that their families should not spend that sort of money. Their kids will never look to save any money towards their future and that they were most likely to party hard for a long time before worrying about their future. Then it would be too late they reckon. Not sure about every other state, but when I was in Grade 12(1997), we had a school formal in late July and we had our school graduation in late November. For our school formal, the girls had to wear "virginial white" coloured dresses, all the same dresses had to be worn. All us guys had to wear black suits. All the same suits also. It was crap. Alot of dancing and proud parents crap.....ect...ect... Graduation was more fun. As everyone could dress as they pleased and no gay dancing was involved. Only lots of drinking after it.
Must be a boring place if skool formals are "BIG NEWS" In NSW they happen after the HSC usually in November. I remember skipping mine haha. Dont remember when the Graduation happened but Im sure it was end of 3rd term.
I never said it was "BIG NEWS". I merely mentioned I saw what was thought to be a Superamerica and some kid was talking about a F430, on the Channel 7 news. Happened to be their school formal. I watched the news again to see if it was a Superamerica. Still not sure if it was. Was too busy checking out hot chicks.
thats awesome i musnt have missed u guys by long at some stage....have been around tooronga a fair bit the last few days....dang
Manual gearbox 430. Nice! Here is an interesting question........Will a F1 gearbox 'crunch' into gears ever? Or only if it has a problem shifting? Has anyone ever done that here with an F1 box? Scott, Gekko.....whoever also owns an F1 gearbox? This could have been a good question for FF to answer I think.
100s of people around the world could have answered that question. don't fret, and get over it. did he pay you to say that (keyboard battery went flat)
Im guessing $10k. Haha, seriously, I dont think its possible unless there is a software glitch Havent heard a Ferrari crunch gears, but I have heard/seen afew Porsche drivers do it. Pap, have you crunched yours ever?
more like 10s of thousands !! remember that even the boganmobiles have paddle shifters today and if they work for them then must work for other real car makers
But the bogan flappy-paddles are controlling auto boxes with planetary gears, not manual boxes. F1 boxes don't crunch, but they must place more load on components. That's why VW developed the DSG box (that Porsche invented in the 70's) and its probably only a matter of time before Ferrari follows suit. Its the best of both worlds, works like a good auto when you want it to then becomes a lightning fast manual. For me, flappy paddles will always have a whiff of "hairdresser" about them, even though I know they're faster on a circuit. And that statement just might spawn 3 pages of indignant posts!
BMW and Toyota (and Alfa, but I guess it's largely the same system as Ferrari) have semi-auto boxes in the same style as Ferrari's F1 jobbie - there are probably others in the non-supercar class, though I don't know of any offhand.
well the hairdresser comment doesn't go down well for those of us with no roof and a pouch to put the blower in I so much want to use one on the circuit because I'm a terrible duffer with the shifter in tight situations and I'm jealous of the flappy paddle brigade
i have an M3 and and a QP, both have manual transmissions with an auto side, porsche have an auto transmission with a manual approach, i still believe that the M3 is like a massey ferguson tractor, the QP is a wonderful transmission. and porker can go pork emselves. Hairdresser......no the mondial only came with a 5 speed manual transmission. and 3 pages.....no i dont think we have that many hairdressers here.............or do we.......pp has been known to skylark as a dresser of sorts, not sure of his head though! JM's head could do with more hair aka Cousin It so it can hide his semi georgous dial
It was The Southport School (caps are important!) I don't know that any of those kids are going to have to worry about saving money...
WA dealer says that the F1 shift option was about 80% on new 360s, but only about 50-60% on new 430 orders. Perhaps people prefer the 'manual' experience once they get over the reality of the F1 shift concept in everyday traffic...
