I love coming home at night and seeing the F50 sitting there under the lights. Sometimes takes me 30mins to close the door and go inside. Which issue of Cavallino has the yellow F50? I have been collecting them since circa issue 20, so I probably have it (somewhere).
Haha....I can imagine. The yellow F50 is in Issue 93, and I also got Issue 100 with the F50 GT - haven't read them yet but looked over the pics (a few times).
Although a different car, I have read that Porsche would have had to double the MSRP of the 959 just to cover costs! They only made 283.
First of all i saw this! 1. F40 getting a clucth repaired, and suspension. a few 360s, 456,612,512 355 and a 430 then i saw Enzo F50, F40 X3, 430 X2, Mclaren gtr all in the one room Image Unavailable, Please Login
today i saw a 575M in red with tan turning onto the Freeway at Hodges Dr in Joondalup. didnt notice tle plate ding, but did notice that it had shields, and a bald dude driving it.
Its probably this HGTC: http://www.ozcarsightings.com/updates/ferrari/550575/Ferrari%20575HGTC%20(2).jpg I met the owner and he is a bald guy, plates are FD1 so obvioulsy related in some way to the Dockers. I think its probably the only red 575 in town, the only other one I know of is the one at Barbagallo currently.
A mate of mine lives nearby the 575 and knows the owner. I was taking my mate for a drive from his house in the 328 when we spotted the 575 very soon after it had left its home (heading out). We caught up with him and he was surprised that there was another car even there at all and really smiled when he saw it was another F-car. Would have been about a month ago on a Saturday morning. regards,
I have an article somewhere, written by Niki Louda, that states that the F40's were 10 seconds a lap faster around Fiorana , than the 959 porsche
I'd like to see that!! I'm sure there was a pefectly impartial and "like for like" test carried out by the Ferrari proaganda machine...!!
well, how much does the 959 weigh and how much torque and horsepower etc. etc. I know Ferrari had a big grin when they released the F40, purely because that was one of those, "well you germans have the 959, and we have the F40, let's put them on the track together and see what happens. And let's face it, Ferrari would have done a number on the F40's, just so they could laugh at the 959
it was Sports Car World in 1988 with the Walter Brun 959 and Gerhadt Berger's F40 at Fiorano and they both drove each others car and the F40 won both times AND was easier to drive .....I'll scan it if you want
1250kg or 1350kg depending on spec, 450hp, 0-60mph in 3.9sec, 197mph....so there is no way an F40 would lap Fiorano 10sec ( ) faster.
btw specs were : F40 1100kg 356kw 0-200kph 12.0secs PirelliZR17 959 1453kg 335kw 0-200kph 13.3secs BridgestoneVR17 a no contest really , the Porker was living up to it's name
really? a genius i see. you quote power to weight and expect to work out lap times? the 959 understeered like a pig. I thought it was only 7 seconds though.
don't argue with us old fellas sonny, I just read the whole article and Berger says the 959 is at least 10 secs behind the F40 at Fiorano and even Walter Brun concedes it would be at least six secs
And you really believe that Gerhard Bergers F40 would have been in std tune... being the works Ferrari F1 driver and all..... I'd love to see the article if you can scan it. I'd also love to hear from any 959 owners. I only ever drove a 959 once, and it was just a short spin around the block. Couldn't tell if it was any good or not. What are the Nurburgring times....??
