Guys, I'm busy at the moment, but think we need to re-iterate some of the rules and talk about what the forum is for. My take; For technical information and questions there are specific sub forums, technical and model specific, where these can be directed. The purpose of the "Aussie" section, is forus to get to know one another, ask region specific questions, provide details of upcoming events and discussion of events past. Some of the pic threads by Scott (360C) have as usual been great and I wholeheartedly encourage these sorts of threads. Instead of complaining about the quality of the threads and posts, improve them with your own contributions. Just because there is some sillyness posted here, new members must realise that this is just banter between friends, much like at the pub, club or whatever. Don't get uptight about this, as you become more familiar with the characters, you'll probably start participating, or evn, shock horror, starting what others may see as silly threads of your own. One last comment; DO NOT POST ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD NOT SAY IN PUBLIC IN MIXED COMPANY. ........and remember ITS ONLY THE INTERNET.
SS, you guys are doing well keeping this place from turning into another UK tantrum central. Bob M was worried about us appearing as hicks to the world FCA but if you look at the UK section they appear as people who can't work anything through and take their bat and ball home (we will of course get it back come the Ashes time ) We have our idiots (who me ??!) but in general it is all well mannered pokes in the eye for fun I've met some top people through this and other forums but as with life it's a pick and choose thing. Funny thing is that if you exclude people you think are useless and idiots you may miss out on some of the funnier sides of life when you get to know them. Goober seemed insane when he first came along (well counting bolts is hardly normal!!) and the truth is HE IS , but lovable as well and surprisingly incredibly sane and lucid in person with a genuine love of cars This place is a mish mash of humanity pretty much the same as any pub or club but we all have an interest in the prancing horse or we wouldn't be here but none of us have to live up to anyone else's expectations,
but why? it seems pretty clear-cut to me, much like you said. if you want to get or dish out tech/historical advice on ferrari stuff, the other forums of this website are the best resource around, go frolick. if someone has specifically aussie-content then post it here, for the most part the 'proper' threads remain unpolluted, but it's pretty clear when a discussion is just a matter of someone said something of interest and then funny tangents were miraculously born. i don't see what people lurking and watching have to do with how we're portrayed, this little bunch of pixels on my screen doesn't represent any faction of society, it isn't the official ferrari australia discussion board, it's an american chat site which due to it's prominence has become the defacto aussie-exotic-car-owner-and-enthusiast online meeting place. if someone wants a 'serious' and official board, petition rob lay for a sub-section for FCA members only, or set one up on the FCA website. if there were another place where like-minded folk in oz liked to kick things around then i'd say my inane stuff there instead.
and the real estate prices have plummeted since you've been there we're much nicer in the 'other' forum we use to have some doosies there occasionally, hard to believe really when we are all mature adults
But we generally do all know each other in the other forum and mostly are great mates... and yes, I started it so naturally it's holier than thou
well half the people don't post anymore so that must tell you something when was the last time Rosco posted, or John Mc (probably baby trouble) Dave got so sick of us he left the country
