Hi everyone, My name is RMV (well initials, anyway!) and I am (kind of) new to this website. Taking my cue from similar posts in other parts of Ferrarichat, I'll begin with a brief introduction. I am currently studying Law at the University of Melbourne and when I graduate, would like to work as a solicitor specialising in family law and/or conveyancing. I am obsessed with cars (as I'm sure most of you are) and once I establish myself career wise, would like to start my own personal (albeit modest) collection. I volunteer at the Fox Classic Car Collection when I can. I was wondering if anyone could help me by answering the following question: Are there any Australian delivered TdF (or Pozzi Blue) 360 coupes? The reason I am interested is that I would ideally like to purchase a Tdf 360 with tan interior and six speed (three pedal) manual in the future. Also, I was wondering if any members of the Ferrari Owner's Club (Vic) would PM, post here, or e-mail me details pertaining to associate membership requirements (if it is an option), as I would love to join the club in order to expand my Ferrari knowledge, and lend a hand (if I was in any way useful). Thanks in advance for your input RMV.
i know that their is at least one Pozzi Blue 360 spider in Vic, seen it on several occasions last time was last week down on Vic Ave in Albert Park
I thought the FCA were still pushing the elitist line that you had to be an owner or former owner to join?
NOT wishing to discourage you; but I think your chances of finding a 6 speed, Blue (any blue) Modena are slim to none. I have a Rosso 6 speed Modena and even in that colour they are pretty thin on the ground. The 6 speed makes up 20% of deliveries at best and Blue Nart/Tdf/Pozzi are close to extinct in the V8's. Now combine the 6spd/Modena/Blue together and........Do a search on drive.com and you will get the idea very quickly. Personally, I LOVE blue and have had Blue Chiarro 328 and Testarossa previously. Everyone said WOW, what great colour; but it took 2yrs to sell the TR at less money than a Rosso car would have made. All my F-Cars since have been Rosso Corsa. If you REALLY want Blue, budget $20k on a quality respray or buy new IMHO.
Dear Fellow Elitist You are correct - except for this class of membership - Associate Member Shall be a person who does not qualify as a Full or Family member but who is able to demonstrate a substantial and abiding interest in Ferrari and who is willing to be actively involved in all activities of FCA. Approval and continuation of membership will be solely at the discretion of the National Committee. Also limited to 10% of the membership total We have a some very active associates in WA - even have a couple on the state committee. (but of course, WA is not an elite state ) Best John
just remembered, first 360 i ever saw in the flesh was a wicked blue. apart from the TR and a couple others i didn't know much about which car was what, just that it was a new ferrari. anyhoo, i remember i was in the parking lot eating a sandwich at a place i was temping at in Perth, i heard an incredible italian symphony echoing down the street and was rewarded with the great sight of a stunning blue ferrari coming straight toward me. who knows, i probably had parts of my sandwich falling out of my gob as i stared, and the guy got out and went into the company next door to where i was werking. had a good perve on that one, that blue is indelibly etched into my brain, prettier than my eyes even.
Was it a Modena (coupe) or a Spider (convertible) that you saw? I have never seen a Blue Modena and the coupe was what was specifically required in this case. I HAVE seen a Blue 360 Spider F1, and if you are going to see a blue 360 it is likely to be an F1 Spider as they make up most of the deliveries. Sadly there are more posers than drivers buying new Ferraris these days.
Hmmm, is that a recent development John? I was never in favour of the elitist membership in any case.
No Scott, it has been a membership category for years - don't ask me exactly how long, but it was written into the new constitution in 1999 so it certainly pre-dates that. I suspect probably some 10 years before, but don't quote me! John
hummm, i'm pretty sure it was a Modena. understand i'd never seen a 360 before, and even ferrari sightings were rare for me having lived most my childhood in outer adelaide burbs or the outback (difference? ), but i think i would have remembered noticing if it was a Spider... i seem to recall the lines from the engine window going smoothly over the roof, yes, fairly sure. i wonder if my saliva is still on the engine window... oh well, they should still be in good nick by the time i can plug one into my stable then.
I can only think of 2 such members in Victoria and they do ten times as much stuff for the club as any "owner' member.
Ash, when was this that you saw the blue 360 Modena? I saw one in Mandurah (about 70km south of Perth) about 1.5yrs ago....and like you I found it completely stunning!! I saw it parked out the front of a house near my parents place and he was showing it off to a friend. I stopped and had a closer look, although he didn't seem willing to talk I found out that he had just bought the car.....and then soon after he left and i still remember that glorious sound of the V8 disappearing into the distance Maybe its the same one, can't be too many blue 360's here in WA?
hmmm, that would have been say mid-2000 i guess. i'm trying to remember where the hell it was that i was werking... ah, found an old CV. it was called Right Marketing, having trouble finding a listing for it, but i think it was a couple miles west of the CBD. i saw that 360 parked there half a dozen times in the few weeks i was werking there.
so why didn't you take a photo of THAT one, red ones are so last millenium I'm thinking blue for my next rollover derby car
just saw a black spider scootin up past walkerville tce here, sexy beast. your last one must have been an american import, it was just trying to right itself after coming from an upside-down country.
LOL...well I have only recently started taking photo's of nice cars I see (and have somehow already accumulated ~1300 pics ) so unfortunately no pics of the blue one. I often drive past that house when in Mandurah in the hope he might be there again one day
BTW Ash, I did see another blue car which might interest you....same as yours I think http://img63.exs.cx/img63/2323/fiatx1919en.jpg http://img63.exs.cx/img63/7104/fiatx1924vj.jpg
sweet. spoiler's a bit big, and that style of wheel doesn't suit it, but the body looks schmick, and the whole nudie bumper thing is cool. it's like a wedgie-smurf.
Thank you to all who responded. I will apply for membership via the FCA website. As for the colour issue, I would ideally love to purchase a blue six speed, however, I would be happy with a red one as long as it was a manual. Basically the colour is negotiable but the type of transmission is not! This purchase is a little way off yet; I just wanted to get a feel as to whether such cars had been delivered, and would thus be available in the future, when I'd be ready to buy. I suppose that the other option would be a private import from the UK, but that opens up another can of worms! BTW, the Fox collection has some open days coming up. I'll post the days and when I'll be there; it would be nice to meet any F-Chatters in Melbourne whilst the open days are running. RMV
the ferrari 360 i had a chance to drive was a blue with f1 paddle shift and it was from victoria ...as i live in tassy.....i wish i had a camera with me.....it had tan interior just enough room for owners golf clubs behind seats...
