I'm going to Austin in about 3 weeks and I'm planning on taking the 360. I went to school there, but it's been a long time. I've been wanting to re-explore the roads in and around Austin for a while now, especially in an F-car. I remember 2222 and will definitely take that. What are some other suggestions for nice twisties? I've heard of Lime Creek Road and that it's really nice. How is that and where is it?
How about City Park Road (directions?) and Mt. Bonnell Road (I think I remember where it is, off 45th?). I remember a nice road out to a big park along the river off of 2222 I believe, but that's all I remember.
    Thanks for any recs.

City Park rd would be a great road to check out. Heading north on 360, exit 2222 (Bull Creek Rd) and turn left under 360. City Park Rd is the first light. Mt. Bonnell Rd starts at 35th street and then ends at 2222.

I've heard lots of good things about Lime Creek Rd, but I have never been there. It's supposed to be off of 620 somewhere.

I'm the photographer for the local Ferrari club and if you are going to plan a trip here, I would love to meet you at one of the locations and take some shots of you flying by and if you are interested, we could do a little photo shoot.

Here are some of my pics. www.TifosiPhoto.com Let me know if you are interested.

Lime Creek Rd is well worth it. It is the only road I come up from SA for anymore. Traffic is usually light and you can have liberty with the center of the road most of the time. Just don't under estimate the corners. Nothing like following someone and suddenly having them facing you mid-apex. 2222 is for much higher speeds and less demanding when driving at the limit.

I will give you the scenic route to get to Lime Creek Rd. from your resort. You exit the resort to the left on Bee Caves Rd. and travel several miles until the road dead ends into 71 where you will turn right. In less than a mile after entering 71 you will turn right on to 620 and travel on 620 around Lake Travis past Lakeway, the dam and continue until you reach the intersection with Comanche Trail. (several miles past the dam at a traffic signaled intersection on the top of a hill). You can only turn left onto Comanche trail and it will wind around to a bluff overlooking the lake where the Oasis Restaurant is located. The Oasis overlooks the lake and is a great place for a view especially during a sunset while eating some Mexican food. Just past the Oasis on Comanche Trail (100 yards) down a slight hill you will see a street to your right called Oasis Bluff Dr. Turn right on Oasis Bluff drive and it will dead end onto Bullock Hollow Rd. Turn left onto Bullock Hollow Rd and it winds around and eventually dead ends into 2769 at a T intersection. Go Left on 2769 and stay on this road and it will eventually turn into Lime Creek Road which will dead end into 1431. Lime Creek Road is a very tight and twisty road which in my opinion better suits a smaller car such as a Lotus than my 512TR. But it is a fun roller coaster drive.

Once you get onto 1431 you are on one of the best roads in the Hill Country and you can proceed to Marble Falls ( in effect making a loop around Lake Travis) or even further to Llano. Whether you go all the way to Llano or just to Marble Falls you can return to Austin on 71 and as you get close to Austin just past 620 you can exit off 71 onto Bee Caves Rd where Barton Creek Resort is located to give you a great round trip on different roads. I think you will find 1431 and 71 great roads for your 360. You should note that the shorter circular route will take you several hours and would make for a good long morning or afternoon run.

Another great drive is to go to the small town of Wimberly which has several shops and such and is a good place to walk around so it gives you a destination instead of just a drive. You again proceed out of the resort to your left just as above. You turn right onto 71, but go straight on 71 past 620 and in a few miles you will turn left on Hamilton Pool Road which you will take for several miles until it intersects with FM12 (which may be called Brooks Ranch Road) FM 12 only goes to the left as it T’s with Hamilton Pool Road. Take FM12 all the way past Dripping Springs to Wimberly for a great drive.

Just be careful if you drive past dusk as deer are prevalent on the roads in the Hill Country.

You might also want to hook up with the folks at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hillcountrydrives/ as they have been putting together some nice drives and their site may have some maps in it of drives they have taken.

    Lloyd,
Thanks a lot for the detailed directions. I printed them out and will take them with me. I really appreciate it. Sounds like a great drive.

The Oasis restaurant is open again? That's a great place.
