This is from the Supra forum, so dont flame me I have this posted in the MK3 section as a sticky, but wanted to post it in here as well as I know some of you do not check that section. After a bit of debate on a gauging interest thread I made in this section as well as the South Forum, I decided to make a slight date change to accomodate some of our good buddies further south that are making a little further trip. Also, for those that need to make arrangements on places to stay, please contact me privately. I may or may not have space available at my house, but will definitely do what I can to accomodate as many of you as possible. Hill Country Cruise October 8th & 9th, 2005 Saturday October 8th will be our cruise through the Austin Hill Country. 620 out to Lime Creek Road and on to 1431 out to Marble Falls. Keep in mind here folks we are going to be going about 100 miles or so with only a stop in the middle to eat. Keep your cars full of gas and please please PLEASE go over them with a fine tooth comb prior to leaving. We had no problems last time with cars. Let's keep that "streak" alive. For Saturday evening I am looking at going to the 1431 car show at the Home Depot in north Austin. We usually hit up the Y car show but in recent past that has gotten smaller and smaller while the 1431 show has gotten MUCH bigger. From what I have heard, over 250 cars show up on a weekly basis. No crazy ricer punks and no carelessness for the most part either. Sunday we'll get together for another cool roadtrip through some twisties. Head to the Salt Lick first for some great BBQ, then winding down through Wimberly, and the Devil's Backbone. The last few times people have stayed at the Ramada and said they enjoyed it, so I'm giving their address and phone # ahead of time as well. Ramada Inn 1212 West Ben White Boulevard Austin, TX, 78704 US 512-447-0151 Here is a breakdown of times and the schedule for those that can't make the entire thing or for those that want to meet up somewhere else due to other scheduling conflicts. Saturday October 8th 1:30 pm leave the Albertson's parking lot at the Y in Oak Hill (corner of 290 South and 71 West). 2:15 pm meet North group at Wendy's corner of Anderson Mill and 620, then head up Lime Creek Road to 1431. Marble Falls for some food and some relaxing. Last time we all went to Chilis and it worked out great, even on Memorial day weekend. There is also a pizza place and another restaurant for those that are interested. 5:15 pm Leave the Hampton Inn/Chilis parking lot (Hwy. 281 at the Bridge over Lake Marble Falls) , head back towards Austin. 7:00 pm Gather at the 1431 Car Show at 1431 and Parmer. There is a huge HEB grocery store and Home Depot in this shopping center. You can't miss it! Night life after the car show is up to everyone. It's about a 30-45 min drive back down south to Lance's (Rajunz) house, and I'm sure he will be happy to have some of us hang out there. If anyone is interested in clubs or bars, we will surely be able to accomodate there as well. Sunday October 9th 11:30 am Leave the Albertson's parking lot (again) and head to the Salt Lick and end up back at Oak Hill about 3-4pm so everyone can head home. This has been the schedule for the last two events that we have had and it has worked out quite well. The only real change I'm choosing to make is to have the car show meet at the north location as opposed to the south. This will make for about 30-40 extra miles of driving, but will be WELL worth it. The general consensus I got from most of you was that more driving was requested. So you request it, I make it happen! Keep in mind again. ANY car is welcome. We can and will do some "spirited" driving I'm sure, but any car is welcome. I will be invited some of my Trans Am, Corvette, and Camaro friends as well. I will be VERY selective in who I ask as we all of course want to keep this fun and enjoyable for all. As ALWAYS, if any of you have ANY questions for me or need clarification or need anything for that matter, please let me know. I want this to be the most successful meet to date and will do what I can to ensure that happens. Feel free of course as well to raise questions or comments in this thread as well. We've all got a month almost to the DAY so lets hide the excuses, call the babysitter, get out the wrenches, work some extra hours, whatever we gotta do to make it to this event and make it as fun and enjoyable for all as it can be. Look forward to seeing you ALL there!
Which univeristy? Do you mean Texas High? EDIT -- sounds like a cool trip, unfortunately I can't work that into my schedule
For Oct. 8th and 9th, there's a much better hill country drive. It is a stay over affair in the middle of the hill country. You might know where to look if you are interested.
Tillman, I can't say if that agricultural institution in College Station plays that weekend too. On the other hand I think Texas State plays that weekend which will be more interesting that the agricultural institution game given they are clearly a better team. I sure wish we had some in-state competition of The University to play.
Those cruises sound cool and all, but I enjoy hooking up with a few exotics cruising around town for a few hours and grabbing a bite to eat more than road trips. It's more fun getting all the local attention and not having to spend boo koo dollers on gas. When it cools down, I want to set up a few more short/local exotic cruises this year. Something a little more "doable" with people's schedule.
Would a Ducati be allowed? How about an Audi? I do several " Sunday Morning Drives " in the Dallas ( Northeast Texas ) area and would like to go on your drive to get some ideas ( about making one of our drives down South ) Thoughts? Steve
Hell yeah!! Bikes are a definate plus as some of the single turbo 93+ supras would want a little competition I'm sure!! I'd love to see an Audi come out with us too!! Hit me up with a PM and we can cruise down there together or something!
