Checked it out this afternoon but didn't find it particularly inspiring. Lots of stuff for kids and a few cars that would have been interesting if they had engines in them. The most useful booth is the COTA bunch -- nice information about the track and several people who work for the track to answer questions.

If you're close and bored with kids, maybe give it a try. If you're a real F1 fan hoping for some cool and interesting hardware, not so much. It's a well intentioned effort and I certainly support the idea. It just was not quite worth the $24 admission ticket for me but YMMV.

No worries, I'm glad you like them. Austin really is a fun town, Saturday night I met up with my cousin Kelly which is a music promoter. One of the bands she works with, The Dirty River Boys won Band of the Year at the Moody Theater / Austin City Limits. (the event was also tied into the F1 Expo weekend) They will be one of the bands headlining at the COTA amphitheatre this coming November.

After that we headed over to the Continental Club on South Congress to check out another performer, Jimmie Vaughan. There is nothing like seeing a Texas music legend like that performing in a small venue, a really nice person to talk to. The last time I saw him perform is with the Fabulous Thunderbirds opening for this brother, Stevie Ray Vaughan, which opened for The Who at the Cotton Bowl in the summer of '89. Good times.

    Here's a couple of photos.

Great photos, thanks for those and the reports.

I did not make it to Austin this weekend but am starting to increase my trips there now.

That is what is great about Austin, you just never know who is playing sometimes or who will jump on stage with some band.

I saw the 'Fabulous Thunderbirds' atleast 3-4 times from the late '80's into the early '90s at 'Party on The Plaza' in downtown Houston, Jimmy rocks. Austin is such a great town and I would love to live there some day. One thing about Austin is no matter where you are, there you are and it is always a great time!
