I took a friend for a ride in my Testarossa down Lime Creek Rd. this weekend in Austin. Normally, I'm so focused on that road that I don't look up at the gauges much. He commented that I stayed in second gear the entire time. My speeds ranged from a low of 20 mph to a high of nearly 80 mph.

I couldn't believe that I was able to get up to almost 80 in second gear before hitting red line. The torque at the lower speeds was just fantastic which was just as suprising at the fact that it would go up to 80 before having to change gears.

Anyone ever notice what gear they use on that road and whether they have to shift a lot or not?

never noticed. Always too focused on the road and that one part where there's no gaurd rail and a close drop off. Every time I go by that part I say "WTFO". Be interesting to have a rider like you had to observe shifting and speed.

I use gears 1-3, and on the straights, up through 4th. Yes, I said 1st. In my car, if you aren't dropping to first, you aren't getting the twisties right.

I haven't been out there in a while, but I do recall riding in Lloyd's 512TR on LCR. Man, what a beast to handle through the twisties.

The only was to accurately tell what you are doing, is to let me ride along with you. To better your driving skills, you should let me drive and I can show you what you need to improve on and you can learn from there. :D
