Hi im told by Ferrari that 90000 was the start of 92 & 93 models, u can tell by the rear badge if its chrome its the later version, if its painted its the earlier version. My car was Scud delivered and has all books & matching numbers & im the 2nd owner in 12 years, I only bought it 5 months ago from the original owner in SA.

A badge is very easy to change.
My car is a late 1992 model and its CH# is over 5000 cars higher than yours.
Didn't Ferrari back then make a lot less than 5000 cars a year?
Doing simple mathematics, yours at BEST would be a 1991.
Where, in the car, is your battery situated ?
Are you sure the books are correct?
There were a lot of updates needed on 348's back then.
Have you confirmed with the dealer, who serviced the car, that all had been done?
These are the problems I found when I was looking for my 348.
People trying to palm off older cars as being younger and there being no proper attention to warranty issues when they were under warranty.
Ferrari Dealers across Australia must have had New 348's on their showroom floors for a very long time.
My car is an Australian car, Factory delivered.
I have all the delivery papers from the Ferrari Factory so I know its age exactly.
I have checked up that all the warranty work has been performed.
Another big problem with 348's is their fragile Speedometers.
Mine has had 2 replaced but luckily my previous owner kept all his paper work from the dealer in order and therefore a complete history of the car as to "real mileage" travelled is known. The Dealer did not have the records.
My car's condition matches up with the current speedometer reading but it's service record shows it has travelled in excess of 3 times the distance shown on the Odometer.
I wonder how many 348s owners really know if their Speedometers are correct.

This applies to ALL ferraris. Take every speedometer reading as bull-sh... and assess the car on it's condition and the VERIFIABLE service history. Anything else is rubbish. I've seen 355s with 'under 20k' that the driver's seat leather is falling apart. Mind you, I wouldn't buy a car that has travelled less than 2k/year and particularly one that hasn't travelled at least 10k in the past two years; otherwise, you're the sucker that's going to have to make up for all the deferred maintenance

Small correction. It applies to all Ferraris prior to the F1 type 355 which records all sorts of stuff like mileage on the ECU. A ton of other parameters are recorded as well and putting 2 and 2 together on some of them can also give you an idea of the accuracy of the speedo.
I got a 4 page printout from the ECU on the F50.
Phil has suggested that you can buy equipment to alter the readings these days; but I personally doubt it. The dealers SD2 can alter the mileage 3 times at 500km's a time. After that it locks the ECU. So I find it amusing that we now see relatively high mileage 355's and 360's getting around.
Apparently all you had to do to disconnect the speedo on an early TR was pull the right fuse LOL.

thanks for the correction, I wasn't aware of that; but I'll bet you that I can get the ECU altered- for a price.

With anything with an electric speedo up to the 355 you mention, you can simply pull the plug from the back of the speedo during your term of ownership... naturally, no ferrari owner would do that...NOT

Hi, I have all the paperwork, manuals & logs books are complete with the car, as this is the 4th ferrari ive owned so I'm no stranger to dealing with buying one. I also am a member or Ferrariowners.com run by Ferrari in Italy, The only way u can join is by suppling all the numbers of your car & its sales history, They then check it out & offer u membership when it checks out.

The first owner was a club member in Sydney who moved to SA and was also club member there. Plus the National sales manager of Ferrari here in NSW is a personal friend of mine we were at the same old tie boy school together. He ran a history check for me & it all panned out with there records.

All my service manuasl match the service records with the corresponding service stamps by Scuds in Sydney & Solitaire Prestige in SA. What can i say all my numbers match engine & chassis numbers, also the ch number behind the steering wheel is exactly the same. Ferrari are Italian there is no set record for anything they do. Maybe US & UK cars numbers differ from Oz issues, The total producion run i have from Ferrari is 8745 that covers all TB TS & SPIDERS from 1989 to 1994.
    Andrew

This can be solved pretty easily. There should be a build date plate in the door jam. What does it say?

COMPLIANCE DATE (in Australia) and BUILD (manufactured) DATE have NO relevance to one another.
Your car could have been in the Importers stock in Australia for years, then sold, at which time a Compliance Plate would be fitted and then stamped with the SOLD date, NOT the BUILD date.
This has happened across the Ferrari range in Australia from what I have seen.
I just don't see it being fair that your car, a 1991 manufacture, can be called a 1993 model and therefore have the same value as mine, which is near 2 years younger than yours.
Is your battery in the rear or at the front of car?
Please specify as this will help determine your year of manufacture.
