Does the gov't give tax credits or kickbacks for making children's TV?

An odd amount of the shows for kids broadcast in America are made there... it's wierd to think that Australian TV, and in turn, inherent cultural values are being projected to my kid. I'm not mad about that, it's just one of those funny globalization things. People up here in the US must think that all Aussie TV is kids shows and Steve Irwin shows.

Then again, you're probably getting 500 times the US programming than is coming back to us.

    You got that right.

Sorry about the kids' TV shows though. I still remember the dark days of sleepless nights when the kids were babies being made worse by having to watch The Wiggles in the morning. I was more of a Hi-5 kind of dad - having indecent fantasies about the band members of the female persuasion. :D

Mark, at least they are learning good habits from an early age instead of the bad habits at a later age !!

My boy uses Bart Simpson methods as a way of getting something out of me, which "strangely" don't work (the insistent "can I go to xxxxx" only gets me angry with him)

I grew up on Play School ("there's a bear in there") and a naughty girl has turned THAT theme song into something nice to remember :D

but then we all had epsom salt dosages of Homicide and matlock police

My wife wants to know if Aussies answer the phone "helly-ou" (as opposed to helloh).

What I suspected. Apparently, a Wiggle said some overpronounced HELLI-OOOUUU into the phone, making my wife think for a moment there could be 20 million people talking silly like that.

Im pretty sure that at least one of them is Homosexual, and therefore more likely to talk like a drunkard woman....

And no, we dont talk like Paul Hogan. Or Steve Irwin.

We talk REAL english. Not that fast paced crack you yankees go on with!!

My wife says they all have families. Then again, if I had a children's enterainment franchise making $50mm+ per year I'd make sure the party line is "we're all hetero with families."

I know what you mean Mark.I'm going through the Hi5 stage now with my 2 yr old son.I haven't introduced him to the Wiggles.I too think that the girls on Hi5 are more appealing to the eye than 4 guys in colured skivvies

Maybe that was a Kiwi Wiggle. They do have a penchant for mixing up their vowels.

I worked at a major ISP for 2yrs doing helldesk and I rarely heard anyone answer with a G'Day(we had quite alot of rural customers as well).
Its more face to face then over the fone type greeting IMHO.

Please! Don't send him back here. Send him to Dapto.

Many people ask me if I know that idiot. They seem to think that we are ALL like that. Very depressing.....

Actually the sad thing is that both REALLY are within an hour of me (Irwin Sunshine Coast and Hoges at Byron Bay)
