Anyone flying in for this one ? Not much of a build up for the race here outside Melbourne , even I'm tossing up whether to go or not, last year I drove the 2,000 kms swapping between a 365GT4 and 330GT with 2 mates to watch the race. I'm finding the enthusiasm has died a little since that drive, we drove them as they should be driven and it really put me in a good frame of mind for the race even though Ferrari were not the favoured marque to win. You just feel on a high and the race adds to the excitement. Flying in for the race, is like a quick shag with no foreplay, still enjoyable but you feel like you have missed out on the full experience
4,500 round trip when you add all the running around Watching last year's race with fellow Tifosi was the icing on the cake for me, great drive, great food (Melbourne has excellent food T12 ), average result, but you can't have everything. I'm expecting Ferrari to be closer to the front , no idea why, just a gut feeling Bernie will pull some strings
Would have been far more fun than the race. Melbourne is a poorly designed track that actually makes passing close to impossible for all cars that race on it. I've been 2 times and each race was a bore. I will never go again. The only reason I went the second time was because my father and I went and there were rumours that a 250GTO was going to be there. It was but we never found it . I wish Melbourne or Bernie would chuck some money at a track designer to fix the track as it really is letting Melbourne down. Pete
Phillip Island would indeed be better than Albert Park, but, IMO, the best circuit for a GP in Australia would be Bathurst. It would be a huge test of both man and machine. Over 6Klms long, with the Dipper, Forrests Elbow and then Conrod straight being an awesome section of track.
