I am going to the show in Padua next weekend with a fellow Ghibli owner from the Canary Islands. Anyone else going? Send me an e-mail at [email protected] and hopefully we can hook up. I have never been to this show but I was told it is the Italian version of the Hershey swap meet. Ivan
Hi Walter, I sent you an e-mail with my mobile number. I will also be there on Thursday and Friday. Ivan
Hi Ivan, Would like to meet with you, I am there Friday and Saturday. Will drop you my mobile nr by PM, See you at Padova, Bart
Hi Bart, Great .... will do. I just received this e-mail from Maserati. Looks like they are going to be there with 3 classic cars. "Dear Maserati Enthusiast, We are pleased to inform you that the House of the Trident shall attend the Classic Car Show "Auto e Moto d'Epoca" in Padua: an event that has been driven by passion for almost thirty years, appreciated and renown worldwide. The 29th edition of the Italian Car show for classic cars and motorcycles will be held from October 26th to 28th 2012 (preview for the Press on October 25th) at Padova Fiere Exhibition Centre. Maserati Classiche will take this opportunity to rediscover the history of the Modena Factory, taging tradition and historical values on its stand. Three "Ladies" will be exhibited at the Padua Salon: the Birdcage Tipo 63, one of the most famous vehicles in the racing world at the beginning of the '60s; the luxury 5000 GT, and the Khamsin, a model characterised by essential design and shapely lines. Past, present and future are linked together by two top cars, representing the true heritage of the brand: the GranTurismo Sport and the GranCabrio Sport. Our guests will have the opportunity to visit the dedicated Maserati Store corner on the stand: a wide variety of merchandising products of the Maserati Classiche, MC Trofeo and Contemporary lines will take you through the paths of Maserati's history. Looking forward to meeting you at our Maserati Stand in Hall 1, kind regards The Maserati Classiche Team "
I bet all classic cars Maserati will have on display in Padua are coming from the Panini-Collection (possible exeption the T63....). I am sick of seeing this cars again, and again, and again.....! Boooooring....
Wow! Sounds like quite the event. Please enlighten us with photos of; the cars, the parts, and the scene. Many Thanks, RF.
Walter, sometimes we have to step back and realize that when it comes to cars such as these we lead very jaded lives. You probably more so than most. When the cars are all together repeatedly it just loses some of it's excitement. But if you spot one out on the road running at full tilt well, that's very different is it not!
I will be there from Thursday till Saturday. I have never been to Hershey, but "Padua mi piace molto" (= I like it very much). I will send you my number of my cell phone by PM. Please call me when you hook up, I would be glad to meet you all in person. Regards Alfred
I agree, but also wonder why can't Walter organize a few cars to make an appearance on behalf of Maserati?
Why should I??? Years ago I organized for them a commercial photoshoot and PR-filming of a 300S, a T61, a 450S and a 250F at the Nuerburgring. They showed up with 6 people and I booked and prepaid all hotel accomodations, permits etc. and it needed about 25 emails, numerous phone calls etc. until I got paid by Maserati S.p.A. via the FIAT bank no less than 9 months later.
Dealing with Maserati/Ferrari is never easy! I had enough... Would be interesting to know the "ex-Hans Herrmann 350S, found in Argentina"-Story....
It seems like it would generate new interest in the cars. People would see them and either learn about them for the first time, or be reminded of them. They wouldn't necessarily have to buy an Aston Martin DB5. Also, it might give them the impression that there are other owners out there, and if they had a 300S Maserati, they might get to do fun events too.
Just back from Padua. Great to see and talk to Ivan, Bart, Franco, Marc C. and Corrado ...and of course those, who are not members of this forum!
Just curious as to which Tipo 63 they displayed..Sr. Panini's car or perhaps #002 which is currently at Casa Enzo Ferrari Museo.
The Maserati stand was nice. It was good to see Ermanno Cozza (that looks great as always) and Fabio Collina. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Most Maseratis were being sold by dealers and priced in euros for equal or more what they sell in dollars in the USA. The only car I found reasonably priced was a brown 4.2 Indy that could be had for 24,000 euros; being privately sold. That Indy looked like a an honest car with a good original senape colored interior. I took photos of some of the dealer cars but forgot to take a photo of the Indy. My favorite part of the show were all the parts vendors, which occupy multiple large buildings. If you are into restoring Italian cars it is as though you just work up in heaven !! Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, I was fortunate enough to see the 5000 and the Birdcage at the Panini Museum last Saturday. Perhaps one of the best displays of Maseratis I have ever seen is now at Casa Enzo Ferrari Museo in Modena. Both Ferrari and Maserati were equally represented...but the Maseratis more impressive. Ivan: Yes Padova is great..the first time. Subsequent visits will find the same cars, same parts and same vendors...all in the same stalls...as previous years. It needs some turnover. Ivan, Thanks for your "report" and for the photos. Looks like a great show. I've got to say that I like the prices on the Khamsin and the Bora. Were those two cars special in some way, or are those the typical dealer asking prices in Europe now? Carmine
