Lexus showed the LF-A concept. It is supposed to be super fast. Anyway, it looks pitiful compared with any Ferrari. ric
Kind of like an Aston Martin with reversed tail fins... not original, not pretty. There's a bit of 350Z mixed in as well, unfortunately. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks alot like the new NSX concept. Maybe there was a seminar in Japan... Not too exciting.... BT
I don't think it's THAT bad looking, but no, it's not Ferrari pretty. It has strange scoops on the upper quarter panels that don't really work with the top of the car and side windows, and let's not forget the unfortunate fans stuck on the back - what's that all about!? I just got back from the Detroit show, posted my pics here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134298
Never was a fan of the now 2 or 3yr old LF-A design, but when I saw it live at Franfurt IAA '05 I fell in love. Just one of those cars one has to see. The lines suddenly all fall in place, everything seems to be just right... atleast that was my impression. Edit - I just noticed they've revised the bodywork compared to the one I saw. And I must say I like it even more. As to those scoops, mentioned above, for me they work better than 360/430 scoops which seem to just stick out and somehow not blend all too well with the car's lines.
I was at the show. They kept the Ferrari's locked. They showed them to some VIP people (new clients I assume), but the press were not in the cars any time I walked by. I didn't ask to get in, but I did manage to get into the new Audi R8 (which was also blocked from entrance, even to the press) when I was talking to the engine designer for Audi. Overall I think it was a great show. I didn't expect anything new or over the top from Ferrari. I was suprised when they announced that a new model would be introduced in June. They also ended their conference with comments on the Dino, saying that they are not going to make a "budget Ferrari", because it would basically cheapen the brand. They gave no timeline. i almost got the impression that it would not be an entry-level Ferrari, but that they could make it similar to the 430 in price, maybe just a little bit less, but that's just me. I have pics from the show in the offtopic forum here, with more on my site www.behindthewheelonline.com. I'll be uploading the press release for the Ferrari Rally later today.
And what's with the oddly positioned air scoop behind the side glass....looks to me like Lexus is trying to emulate the 599 styling cues. Damn, I'm perpetually tired of the never ending derivative styling of the Japanese automakers: always a "me too!" method of designing cars!
Thats strange - were these press days? Paris this year was completely different, the only stands closed of were RR and Venturi IIRC. Wonderful show.
