F8 Auto stop/start

Good news! I had read in previous threads awhile ago that you must turn that off to keep it from happening and that certain driving modes don’t automatically turn it off… so I’ve been pressing it for past 6 months whenever I started the car—- well, today I said F it and didn’t press it and drove to multiple places with stops at stop signs and lights etc and it doesn’t do it! Thank God! Just drove in Race mode like always and it was fine and normal.

Hmmm, interesting. It was warmed up and turned green and said GO and all that for sure… it was NOT a very long trip, I’ll admit…

Yes it was me with the never saying HOLD and still doesn’t.

Also, I’m always in manual mode of course. Is it possible you guys are in automatic mode? Maybe it only turns off if in automatic? That makes some sense to me as I don’t see how it can restart and be in 1st gear already. Do you have to keep putting it in first gear each time it turns off and on on you?

If my car has a quirk, I would love it to be this one lol. One less button to push (even though I got in the habit of it quickly)

oh yeah, my cars are all tuned to the max! You guys know me and how I love to push these things to the limit and change stuff so that's probably why mine doesn't need to be turned off. Sweet, thank you.

I’ll update after my next long and proper drive… I’m still hopeful even though NO ONE agrees lol—- kinda my life philosophy - if 99% of the people agree, then it’s probably wrong [emoji2]. But I’m sure you guys are right in this case; just hopeful mine is an anomaly.

Ok, just drove it to work. About 20-25 minutes of driving. 88 degrees outside. All systems green after first 2-3 minutes. Manual/race. 8 stop lights. Got up to 128 mph at one point between stop lights. Parked it once, went in store for cigs, left it running as I always do. Then finished drive to work. Auto stop/start never engaged… total miles about 7… still too short of a drive ya think?

I’m pretty sure I live in an alternate universe.

Lol I’ve always done that— even had cops standing by it one time with the F430 telling me it was illegal to do so… we had a good laugh

Just drove home from work.. only 3 or 4 stops at lights this time.. about 20 minutes. warmed up. and still didn't stop and start... YAY>.. now it's a mission to find out how long before it engages... maybe only after 30 minutes? and hour? hmmmmm

 

YUP, that was my exact process as well (and press the roller wheel on left side back of steering wheel to shut the stupid radio off and also put the left screen on the warmup screen thing)... I stopped hitting the bumpy road button a month ago and it's fine so that saved me a step. And now this is the next step in button pressing deletion... and so far so good! This is actually getting exciting that mine does not seem to activate..... wondering if, as someone said earlier, if possibly first owner did something in the ECU to disarm it? Now it's a game to me to see if it EVER comes on or works or whatever..... I hope it doesn't.

 

Wouldn’t that just be funny as sh*t if my car is tuned and has or had an exhaust at some point? [emoji23]

It would actually explain a lot of things…

1. Auto stop/start not having to be disengaged
2. That I don’t find the exhaust sound to be as bad as everyone says. It definitely still screams at higher RPM’s and the cold start is LOUD AF.
3. My HOLD feature thing doesn’t ever show up
4. It looks like my diffuser has been removed and re-attached at some point
5. I feel a tremendous difference in power and acceleration over the 488 when some say it isn’t that much.
6. I can never find the need to ‘mash the pedal’ as some say cos it pulls so hard just normally pressing the gas pedal.
7. Left TFT screen had to be replaced cos it would turn white once a month and SA said he’s seen it happen a few times on cars with a tune.

It would also prove me seriously wrong about warranty retention since mine is active and has been used multiple times already. [emoji2]

Hmmm, more than likely, I’m just an idiot, but it’s a funny possibility.

Ok, well good news and bad news in my experimenting.... Drove to MyRicambi today to get my carbon Engine bay side panels-- about a 30 minute drive-- this time in CT OFF mode... including some highway driving up to 130 mph... and then back to my work same distance and time.. The auto stop feature never activated so that's the good news.....I have a one of one F8 apparently.

The bad news is, upon arrival at my dealership, we have a video Teams meeting with the CEO in which he announced they closed all 6 of our stores in Florida and Texas..... so now I'm unemployed.... sigh.
