    Hi there,

it might me an Autobahn issue I am experiencing... On my recently acquired 3.2 I fitted a pair of Bosch windscreen wipers in 500mm/20". On Autobahn speeds of 80/90 mph and more the windscreen wiper on the driver's side slightly lifts up. It lifts only on the right side of the blade... It annoys me a bit and I actually don't want to fit one of these wiper spoilers... But I may need to... Or am I missing something and this lifting is a feature?

Maybe bend the arm slightly. to add pressure

I can't! The wiper is not working properly! :-D

No seriously... It was slightly raining and therefore the wiperblade did not wipe the water in 1/3 of the length of the blade...

Bending is an option but feels like a semi professional fix...?

OK I did the unthinkable... mine stay firmly planted up to 90mph... don't ask. I have the same standard BOSCH blades I think - usually for rear screens on new cars :D. The passenger side's last 25mm is slightly uncompressed when parked because of the windshield curvature's acceleration toward the A-pillar but stays on the glass when wiping. I would check if your wiper arm hinges are moving freely - WD40 might be the answer. The springs are pretty strong on my car.

Get a wiper blade that has the little fin on it, pushes it against the screen at higher speeds. My old rav4 had it on drivers side, i think you can buy a bolt on

Well thanks for pushing you and your car to these speed levels! ;-)
Yes, passenger side is always up on the last couple of cm/inches. But strangely it does not move around as much as the driver's one when in parked position at higher speeds. Hinge moves freely though...
I was hoping to avoid these spoilers...

Strange. Mine remain firmly planted and wipe really well. I drizzled on the way back just now and had no issues at a hundred. Oups. I promise, I'll NEVER do that again. Just for testing.

Well... Yours are the other way around! :-D

Looking at your pictures it seems that in comparison to mine the driver's side wiper arm is one or two teeth too high.

It's because I am on the Southern hemisphere :D Ah wait - I am not!
Park you blades a bit lower and maybe give your arm more tension by bending them a little towards the windshield a bit more after the spring carrier.

He guys, are you telling that you drive your cars in the rain ?!....Enzo mentioned our cars to drive only in good weather.

When you drive fast enough, no need for wipers....:D

Not really, and we all respect the speed limits too. Always. :D

We had this case today where dew point and temperature almost coincided - dry road surface but wipers needed, basically driving in an almost transparent rain cloud.

No need for rear view mirrors either

Okay, I'll try to lower the parking position first and if that does not help I will try the bending.

Well I am trying to drive only at 20°C+ and clear blue sky... Reality shows that in April in Germany it can occur, that this is not always the case ;) . But it's instantly followed by a wash... It has to, as some 110mph did their fair share of insects in the front... ;)

Rear view mirror? What is that? Something to watch the back of my head?

I frequently drive 110 mph on the Autobahn without any wiper issues. This is possible while German Bosch wipers have a spoiler to increase wind pressure on the drivers side (see picture). Please do not bend the wiper arm.

Well... There are both versions available, even in Germany... :)
Bosch Twin 500 (without spoiler) and 500s (with spoiler). I initially opted for the non-spoiler version as I do not like the looks.

But your driver side arm looks also a lot lower in park position than mine...

    Schelle_Pelle, Guten Morgen !

Here's the supposingly natural parking position on a T-cab.
And I deliberately chose spoilers for both driver's and passenger's side.
    Question of taste I guess.

Comparing with your picture, I'd say your parking position is too high.
Before unbolting though, check if that parking position is the lowest point (as it should be).
If however your wipers nod down and then park in that slightly higher position, it might be an electrical problem or something broke on the wheel of the wiper motor.
Regarding the lifting: I'll be on the Autobahn Wednesday and give it a check ; )

    OK, Schelle_Pelle,

As promised I checked for you yesterday:

Wiper position dry 120mph (192km/h) no lifting at all.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

I was hoping for a dry ride, but as if YOU had asked for it:
Wipers in action 100mph (160km/h) you tell me...
    I see no lifting.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

By the way: I am astonished by the water temperature of my car: OK, it was some 17°C max outside, but still it seems very low after 150km of boring speedlimited highway....
Oil temp as it was to be expected, and my revs.... oh well I need that meter sorted out. It can't be that high in 5th at that speed....

    Cheers

I also made a small movie with the wipers in action, but I am getting the message it is too large to be uploaded here.
Any tips how to do that WITHOUT having to register for nor facebook, insta, ytube or any other personal datacollectors.. ?

Hope to have helped with your choice of blades anyway.
