I noticed that Mazda is sponsoring another annual driving event/autocross, though this year they're using the new Miata. This year in Boston it's September 10-11, and it's free.

While not an F-challenge event, I think it'd be a good time. If nothing else, it's good for bragging rights since we'd all be using the same spec car.

If interested, here's the website to register.

PS. I registered on the 10th at 10 am. Post your registration time if you do--maybe others meet with you.

Looks like Kenny and Scott signed up too! It's going to be an Fcar extravaganza!

Great to see some interest--look forward to seeing y'all there.

    For others who haven't (yet)...

Okay, so when you have a Fcar, driving a Mazda is a little like a moped...it's fun as long as no one sees you doing it. And the banner on the website is a little silly for those who have an Fcar ("Drive a REAL Sportscar!" "The most fun you'll have for free this year!", "Get Schooled in driving"). But the new Miata is supposedly a decent car and it's an excuse to get together.

    See you there! :)

First, an apology to those I recommended this event to: the lines this year were WAAAYYYYY to long, driving experiences mediocre. (Previous years they controled the attendance better, i guess as the lines were less than 20 minutes with more driving events.) The MX-5 (Miata) was a fun car to throw around (after waiting 1.5+hrs in line), though. I thought the RX-8 was a better handling car for me, but maybe that was just because the tires on the Miata were probably at the end of their life as it felt like i was driving on ice--drifted the car into two cones :( . Beat the target time by 1 second, though those two cones put me +1 second.

Glad to see Jonathan and a couple other Fchat folks out there...we could talk about 308's, etc, in the line, so made it a good day overall.

    'Til later,
    G

Gary is a damn good driver! I didn't beat any target times, but had a good time beating the crap out of a brand new RX8 and Miata. Gary, don't apologize, it was a good time. So the lines were a little long....no biggie. It was FREE!

I put 350 miles on the 308 this weekend. I went from the Mazda drive to the cape, then up to NH to visit my dad. It was a good car weekend, and at 15 MPG, pretty expensive in gas!

Now, let's talk about that F1 Boston get together. I'll start another thread.

Bummer I couldn't get there. My g/f's car radiator let go on Fri night then we woke up to a flat on the car on Sat. So that took care of my Sat AM. But with an hour and a half plus wait, I'd've been outta there anyways and it sounds like I didn't miss much anyways.

Glad you guys had fun at it.
