    Hello, all.

I got about two blocks short of the Italian car display at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix when I suffered vapor lock.

The Autoflux wasn't on, the indicator light wasn't lit, and I could hear no ticking of the electric fuel pumps.

I checked the 15A fuse for the fuel pump, and it was blown. I jumped it, briefly, because that got hot quickly, and didn't solve the problem.

So I wonder if I don't have a bad connection, faulty ground, or some other electrical problem.

Where exactly is (are) the electric fuel pump(s), and can I easily trace a faulty connection? Or do I have bad pumps? How can I diagnose this myself?

My parts catalog is at my mechanic's. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Matt

On my series II 330 GT which I assume you have the electric fuel pump was just in front of the rear axial between the left rear wheel and the driveshaft. Sounds like you may have a short.

Try disconnecting the hot wire at the pumps an check your fuse again to see if that cleared the short. If not check the wiring especially where the wire is held in place with metal cable clamps. Another source of a short is the radio filter capacitor that is sometimes fitted at the fuel pump location. This capacitor is a frequent cause of trouble as it ages and is not really needed, so clip it out and check again.

    Thanks, guys.

This should be an easy fix. I'm just too frustrated to lift it and look at it.
