I believe it, what is incredible is the 0-100 mph time of 6.4 seconds.

I wonder how they managed to improve on EVO magazine's observed 0-60 by 2/10ths of a second and 4/10ths in the quarter mile? That's a significant difference so it begs the question as to why?

different conditions, surface, etc? in any case, those are ridiculous numbers. easily over 1g cornering with non Corsa/Cup tires? .96g acceleration figure for a RWD car? WOW!

Historically, the Brit mags are slower than the American mags. Might have to do with temperature ( mags in south Cali have high temps for great grip), dampness on pavement, drivers and pavement quality. Interesting thong though is these times were recorded in England by Americans.

American mags use 1-foot rollout and some (Motor Trend, Car and Driver) then adjust their results according to weather by some calculations (results are improved cause they calculate it to a perfect weather).

If you take this into consideration, european/british mags results are actually faster.

By whatever stats or methods you use, this car is a scorcher. At some point, you have to ask yourself why you need a sub 3 sec to 60 car for the street, which is what the "scud" version of this car will be.

Also, if the McLaren doesn't at least less match the 458's numbers, it would have to be considered a failure. How the Mc's turbo's work at low speed are a big question.

well, as we all guessed, the 'issue' today is no longer performance, but the ability to access that performance AND the ability to enjoy the process, plus be comfy when you want to be. Autocar summed it up best i think...something along the lines of 'weaving amazing performance with 'practicality' and comfort, while not losing the 'connection' to the car'....the 'involvement' is there aplenty. considering all that, the 458 according to them is Ferrari's finest achievement, even surpassing the 599 GTO...

Agreed. The 458 is a masterpiece of engineering, design, and thought. It's gotten to the point where the v12 models are a hard sell. Yes I love the 599 but it's not where my money is going, not when there are cars like the 458 being made at a lower cost.

VERY nice numbers, indeed. Can't wait until C&D, MT and R&T to test out their own numbers since these guys tend to shorten the testing times than the Automobile magazine.

I was surprised that no one else mentions this, but 100Km/h equals 62 Mph, American carmags use to mention the 0-60MPH as a benchmark for decades, hence the difference of let's say 2 tenths.
