Automobile magazine took an SL65 and did what comes naturally for a car with 700+ lb-ft. of torque (though somewhat unnaturally for an SL): they took it to the drag strip. Looks like some of the racers had an issue with the "F'n rich kid" but others offered pointers and advice.

What a monster of a car; I'd love to drive one!

11.5 nearing 120 mph... not bad for the first timer {in a very quick car}.

I have a friend that bought a 2004 SL55 last spring and I was lucky enough to drive it... very fun car! Then, I saw him around Christmas and he told me he had ordered a 2005 SL65 and I thought it was silly... his car was quick enough for a MBZ. Apparently not... and now I want one too!

With all the electronics MB puts into these AMG's, they're said to be relatively easy to get pretty good times out of, even from a not so experienced drag racer. Not that iv'e ever driven an MB AMG of that caliber myself, but that's what i've heard.

    Very fast car.

I wonder what a car like that could do with some good ol' Mickey Thompson's.

Big and littles, with the front wheels a couple of inches off the ground during launch..... Pretty funny and odd image/thought.
