I know these events can be very cheesy but is anyone interested in attending? http://www.autorama.com/casi/dallas.htm
I've been to the last couple of them, it's a decent way for a car nut to spend an afternoon. They have lots of diecast dealers there. I'll go this year, I just don't know which day.
It's always a fun way to kill a saturday afternoon. Here's a few pics from Autorama 1994. Before and after shots of 1971 LS6 Corvette. Aluminum head Dallas car , only 188 built. Original owner threw a rod in 1978, and that non original block killed the car on resale, even with a whole file of documentation. A good learning experience, and alway buy the one some else has fixed up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Greetings! I'm going for sure. Many of my buds from the Dallas Mopar Club will have cars on display there, mostly the "'Cuda Guys" that some of you met at the "Clubhouse" cars shows. They serve beer at the Autorama too! Anyone know who the celebrities will be this year? Uncle Greggie
The celebs are as follows- Ben Jones "Cooter" from Dukes of Hazzard Lita, the WWF wrestler(she has a hurt leg in a brace, but she is more attractive in person. On tv she looks much BIGGER than in person) John Cena- another wrestler Daryll Johnson "Moose" from the Dallas Cowboys. And a couple of smokin' models are there all weekend. Trepaniers Cuda that he built for Joe Rogan(Fear Factor) is cool! I attend a lot of these shows(We sponsor the series), and become immune after a while, but all the classic muscle cars are a sight to see. Some really trick customs and chops, although not many(if any) F-Cars
I'm game for heading out there. Was also thinking of checking out the Ruf event on Saturday. Good car-guy weekend for sure. Malc (Haccord) PM'd me last week and said he'd enjoy attending the autorama. However, his schedule during his visit to Dallas from England is up in the air, and he's not sure when or if he'll be able to attend. Will, any preference of going Sat or Sun?
Hey DFW'ers, Just saw this thread. Sounds like a fun way to kill some time Sunday. (Turns out I'm in town to attend a conference M/T/W and I think I'm staying pretty close by where this Autorama will be held.) Too bad no F-cars, but muscle cars are cool, too. You guys planning to meet up somewhere? -- Rick --
What time are you in on Sunday? The show kind of peters out around 4-5pm, even though it says it ends at 7. Alot of the exhibitors have HAD IT after being there for the whole weekend. Some of us are having b'fast in Fort Worth @ 10 Sun Morning, its about 25 miles from there to the autorama...
Actually, I arrive Sat. PM. Staying @ the Dallas Renaissance on Stemmons. I think the Autorama thing is right next door (or at least pretty close). Plan to have dinner w/ friends up in Carrolton Sat. evening. No real schedule to follow Sunday. -- Rick --
Rick, since some of us are having breakfast in Fort Worth at 10a, I'll probably head over to the Autorama after that. Probably get there around 12:30 or 1:00. PM me if you want to meet up there, we'll sort out the details. There will be a couple Fchatters there at the show.
Went to Autorama last night. Afterwards a couple of us went to Hooters. Greg seemed to enjoy that more than the show. I wonder why? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Had fun roaming around all the rods and muscle cars. Some very nice examples shown. Fair amount of big hair and tatoos, too. And those were the women! ;-D Just ONE (nice 308) F-car carrying the torch. Seemed to attract quite a few positive comments. Talked to Troy, mastermind of the silver Cuda. He said there's about 6800 man-hours into that Cuda. It is *REALLY* sweet; pictures absolutely do NOT do it justice. The silver Z28 was very sweet as well. Full cage. 502 crate motor. One slick street ride!
I am pleased to annouse that Uncle Greggie and a "Hooter's' girl named Loretta are getting married. She's 18 years old and is 50% Irish & 50% Vietnamese. Robbie would have had a melt down. After porking her, I became aware of some pros & cons related to our blossoming relationship: PROS: 1. Real everything on that body...no aftermarket; 2. Sweet disposition even when pestered by drunk, perverted old men like Ron Rippe; and 3. Old enough to serve beer. CONS: 1. Did not know what an anteater was or what it looked like; 2. Had never heard of any pop singer from the 1970s; and 3. Lives in a mobile home park. I will post nude photos on the bikini thread once I found out where in the Hell that is on this website. I hear that the happy couple is registered at "Harry's Hot Rod Shop" and "The Oasis Drive-Thru Liquor Barn" I also hear that orange short-shorts are this year's most popular bridesmaid outfits.
