It looks like Autos in the Park will be on Sunday June 1st from 10am-3pm at Cooper Aerobics Center. This is one of my favorite events of the year and I hope the Ferrari section will be bigger that last year. Here is the flyer Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jack, does a great job with this event. We already have a pretty good number signed up. We have a great idea for a display on the grounds. Jack, has also been kind enough to give us our spot from years past. What does that mean you ask? SHADE!!! It should be traded as a commodity in Texas!! All jokes aside. Our goal is to beat 25 Ferraris on the grass. This is a open show you DO NOT HAVE TO BE A FCA MEMBER to come. But please do !!!
Let me remind everyone that the car show is actually/partially a fund raiser for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. It is the premier hospital for pediatric orthopedics in the world. The hospital has provided medical care for children for over 90 years and until this year never billed a family for medical services of any kind. The hospital now accepts insurance payments if the family is insured. The expenses to run the hospital are about $9,000,000 per month. The show is noted on their web page. We are trying to get a impressive showing of Ferraris for this show. So even if you are not a member we would enjoy having you out.
Stop by and see the Rolls-Royce owners club display - we should have about 20 cars including some amazing vintage machines.
It was HOT! Those of you that took cars and sweltered for 5 hours were BRAVE! Nice to see everybody, some of you for the 2nd time this weekend. Finally got to see why Don has good AC, learned that Greg has nice new red toy, and the first time I've seen Jerry's car. A great turnout as always. Thanks Wilfrido for sharing your GTR with my kids, they talked about it all the way home.
Compared to last year, this was coooooooooooooooool. Thanks Shawn for picking the shadiest spot for the tent and allowing me to park almost underneath it. And thanks Theresa, Alicia, and Shawn for the stimulating refreshments! Thanks to everyone from DFW-FCA that showed up today, with or without a car. Thanks to Shawn and others for getting us organized, the tent, snacks, and drinks. Cheryl and I enjoyed seeing everyone and the cars. Great day for a great cause. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Jerry and Cheryl W. DRG
Somehow the Cooper Center seems to be the place that Ferraris ought to be shown. They fit in much better than at Cars and Coffee, where most people seem to view you as a sideshow. You were well represented today....every time I turned around there was another Ferrari.
Thank you for the kind words. But, in all honesty all the credit goes to Jack Griffin. He always does a great job with this show. The weather was perfect and well we truly have the best members. But I might be a little bias.
Great showing of Ferraris at the show. There were 6 available awards for the Italian class and the Ferrari contingent took 4 of the 6 places. The winners were; In the Pre 1980 class 1st place to Greg Brendel for his 365 GT 2+2 In the post 1980 class; 1st place to Larry Freeman for his 458 Italia 2nd place to Jerry Webber for his 550 Maranello 3rd place to Don Patty for his 430 Scuderia Congratulations to all of the winners and thanks to all of you for coming out
No ax to grind because I didn't enter my car, but it seems a bit unusual to have a potentially 34-year-old car being judged against a car that was built in the last year or two.
I don't think Cooper thinks through it like we do, aren't Ferrari people. It was always a little thought process for classing when doing the FCA DFW Show - Sponsored by Boardwalk. 80's didn't belong with Vintage or Late Model.
