Hi folks - my 348 HVAC was throwing an E8 error so decided to replace the auxillary water pum with what I believe is the modern equivalent. After a search of the parts alternative thread I ordered a Bosch 0392020039 which looks almost identical but with one (important) difference. Rather than 2 wires out the base of the motor it as a socket at the top which I'm ok with but just wondering what the correct plug is so I can buy a proper one and wire something up so it all looks factory etc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That looks like a standard Bosch 2 pin injector connector for automotive use. Injector Connector 2pc Kit Quick Release EV1 Ford Chevy VW GM Buick Jeep Volvo | eBay Google Bosch 2 pin connector. You will find plenty of kits.... Now, if you run across an 88 pin version, do let me know.
I have actually ordered something like that but not 100% sure its right as it didnt specify a size???? (ive got male and female as I want to do the other end of the wire too) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Little update... Its a "JUNIOR POWER TIMER CONNECTOR 2 WAY". Received them the other day and tested to make sure they fit. Also, just fore reference I took a pic of the 2 pumps side by side. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Bosch part no is already in the cross ref thread and theres no part no for the connectors - its just a description of the connector type
The diverter valve is a different part - this is the auxiliary water pump to keep flow going through the heater when the car is idle
Decided to recycle the existing lead so out with the snippers I removed the outer sheath, stripped the ends of the wires with my stripper then put the sheath back on and then tinned the ends of the wires to make the crimping easier. After rechecking the terminals on the pump (they're marked + and - just on the plug socket) I plugged each newly crimped wire into the junior power housing until it clicked home. Hopefully I've ended up with something that looks reasonably factory. Just about doesn't stand too high up - I'e checked with bonnet shut and it doesn't appear to interfere in any way but if it does there's room for a bit of adjustment to lower the pump further. No more E8 error I've switched the ignition on and you can hear/feel the motor whirring. Just need some dry weather now so I can take the car out for a decent run and see if the heating in the cabin has improved which I'm quite hopeful of!. Just as a note you can buy a pump from eurospares which is around £200 + but TBH I think what they are supplying is the above pump so quite a saving to be made (Ricambi in US also show an identical pump on their website).
