Was curious about what everyone thought of the availability and pricing of the Speciale once the 458 replacement becomes available. When I can locate a Speciale, which seems to be difficult, dealers are marking up between 40-100k over MSRP.

I know that all cars, well most anyway, will eventually drop in price- but since this will be the last and greatest of the NA engines, will the new car have a similar effect as the 458 did on the 430 Scuderia? It's also interesting to note that 430 Scud prices have been on the steady rise in the last 8-9 months.

I'm in the market for a Speciale, although I'm currently enjoying and loving my Spider. Would be helpful to hear what the general consensus is on the future value of the Speciale, especially since it's probably the only car I feel is worthy for me to upgrade to.

    Thanks in advance!

I haven't really noticed any rise in actual SCUD prices for sold units, though I keep reading that it is occurring. Where are you guys seeing this?

Experienced it personally.... Sold mine about 7-8 mo ago and bought one back 2 mo ago. I know what mine retailed for and I know what I paid 6 mo later for almost the same car. Paid about 5% more. No low mileage red stripe cars around.

there is no question Scud prices have been increasing in the last 6-12 months. . It's obvious from the asking prices as well. . low mileage 09's are hovering around $200 right now (median between private sale and dealer pricing).

IMO, and I think the record supports my premise, it is "timing", not car production that is the primary driver of pricing. The new 458 may reduce or increase the value of predecessors short term, but history evidences, not for long. Best

I'm not sure how the price of the Speciale will change (up or down) in the future but it would take a considerable amount over the $360k sticker for me to part with mine. The car is just EPIC! Smooth and finished inside but insanely nimble, quick and planted around the turns which is probably what you love about your Scud. I'm sure the 458M will be amazing but the last NA V8 track version that Ferrari built has to mean something in future valuation.

I'm in this haze now since I just paid for my Speciale on if I should sell off my Scud. I wasn't thrilled with the dealers offer for trade in so I passed at the time, but not sure where the actually market value for the Scud is currently. I have a medium mile red car with stripe... So i don't think mine would be undesirable.

What did the dealer offer you ? I am hearing 180 to 185 for desirable color/option 09 scuds we are talking bianco/rosso is my guess. And they are selling for 190-200

08's are 20k cheaper. Both for low average mileage cars.

It would take a considerable amount right now. However in a year or two when you have your eye on something else?

Cars produced in any quantity, even Ferraris, go down in price over time.

When first produced the Scud, 599, etc. brought a premium over sticker.

Is the 2008 beingg 20k cheaper due to the carbon package deal? What did the carbon package include?

perhaps, but its just a model year difference. . The 09 also had the stripe whereas the 08 it was optional. but even then, 09's just command on average about 15-20k premium over the 08. . for whatever reason people sometimes just want the 09. . when I was shopping scuds last year, I only looked at the '09. No idea why. there really is zero functional/spec difference but I had my head set on 09 for whatever reason. . . quirky human traits ?

But the same desirable 09 car selling at 190 is probably 170 for an 08. When I was doing my research late last year and in the market - the lowest 09 I could remove from a dealer was 185. Most of them were around 195-200. For an 08 it was 165k with most around the 180 area.

getting back to the original question - I think speciales are at a minimum 30K price premium, perhaps as high as 75-100. This will obviously change unless the rumor of no more Speciales is actually true.. . But if you are a speciale owner and looking to move it, there is zero reason to sell it anywhere near list right now since the market is at least MSRP + 25K.

I appreciate the responses, all very insightful. If there's one for 25k over, I'd take the plunge. If there's one around in that range, I'd be grateful for the referral!

I stopped believing those rumors about speciale production being done. Just wishful thinking from owners.

Keep your Scud I have both Speciale and Scud and love them both but in very different ways... I am guessing yours is the scude red 10k mile one at continental?? Keep it, Scud red is great and the car is great.

Definitely agree. Though I am waiting for my Speciale, I regretted that I have sold my Scud.

So long as the financial side works, I would keep the Scud for at least the first year of Speciale ownership. I think you'll discover what you think of these two cars during that time.

No my scud is not the Rosso scuderia one they have there, though mine is being serviced there currently. I'm just trying to be prudent. I may keep it but if the $ works out is sell.

I believe you can, as long as it's used and not a new order.

FOA.. Would that be Atlanta or Arizona?

    Thanks!
