I loved the first one and the second one. The third one, I saw premiere night (as I did the second one), but demanded my money back because it was horrible. After seeing the crappy making of the other night, I'm kinda itching to see it as an Alien fan.

Note to fox producers: please, when you are making a 'making of' show, don't try to be artsy in a Natural Born Killers sort of way. We don't need the drunk intern filming on the side with an 8mm.

 

It wans't bad, up until the "thing", that alien-person type thing. Just a strange plot, that's all.

I do like the premise of AVP though, and how they wrapped Bishop into it, being a real person/nonclone.

Have not heard much about it in the UK, sounds good combining the two, Winona Ryder what a body i like you're taste.

 

I saw AVP at a special screening here. I thought it was a decent movie. It has a lot to live up to from Alien movies of the past. But it was not bad. I liked the plot too. Everything was kept simple and easy to understand. No crazy twisted story that you need a degree in philosophy to understand. The cast was a bunch of fresh faces and there were a few humorous parts too. The chemical engineer with the digital camera was certainly a funny character.

 

I saw it yesterday. I thought it was pretty cool but like you said, i didn't like it that there were only a few predators and a few aliens fighting. If there were BIG fight scenes that would have been awosme. I liked it overall.

 

I saw it last night & loved it have to go see it again.

I read a book similair to the movie, except in the book it was in the future & some Humans had a hunting planet similair to Jurassic Park & the Preds were poaching a TRex

What if the Preds invade Earth after the Terminators take over & fight the T's? That would be a cool movie too

Alien 2 & 3 were mediocre, this was much better

P1 & P2 were both excellent

 

Is that before or after Neo saves us from the Matrix?

I went in just knowing it was going to be low on the gore we loved in the originals for the kiddies. But I wanted to see it because of being a fan. I was surprised at how it wasn't horrible. decent amount of killing but little gore and I thought the fights were well done and visually good but I would have liked some bigger battles between them.

Overall if you're a fan, worth seeing.

 

Just saw it, it was good. It was a science fiction movie. There were some corny lines and some bad acting, but overall good. I also saw that ending coming.

 

Would be interested in seeing how popular branding will become after people seeing this film wanna be just like the Predator and brand themselves with that funky symbol on their forehead or cheek.

It wasnt worth the 20 minutes of "Oh wow, thats cool" to have to put up with the 45 minutes of "backstory" in the beginning that made absolutely no sense. The dialogue may as well have the characters crapping out of their mouths every time they open them. "Why yes, I know aztec, egyptian, and every other language known to man. Whats that you say? Figure out this ancient puzzle written in an entirely different language? Why no problem, I'm sure the key is todays date!" And I'm sorry but predator isn't befriending any women. Predator took OVER the city before (in the flashback) remember? He was worshipped and demanded that people bow before and bask in his utter awesomeness. He killed marines for fun! But no, one girl pokes an Alien with a stick and now their gonna hang out and drink beers on the weekend.

Pretty much the only parts I liked, were the ones without the actors. I suggest Collateral.

 

I know I know, but it was just so damn hokey.

Edit: The only part of the movie that I enjoyed (besides the 5-10 minutes of actual fight sequences of Aliens vs Predators) was learning about the Predator culture. That WAS pretty cool. Ending was hokey too.

 

I laughed pretty hard during this movie, especially at that part. I also laughed out loud when the guy said "the enemy of the enemy is my friend" it was so corny that i couldnt help it.

Someone tell me why a bunch of archeologists and explorers are packing heat? WTF is that?

“Lets plan an expedition to Antarctica where our worst enemy is frostbite and starvation..oh and by the way lets pack a few crates of automatic weapons just incase we need to shoot something...eerr... like frosty or a rouge gang of rowdy penguins". WTF!!!


I think before I go hiking with my kids tomorrow, I’m going to stop by the local Militia Market and stock up on some serious action. You never know, we may run into some buried pyramid and have to decipher some ancient code so that we can do battle with multiple Alien species only to end up dead cuz, aside from the fact that they are three times our size and have more weapons than a Black Hawk helicopter, they CHEAT and turn themselves invisible! WTF …Well I have a solution to that. I’m arming the kids with paint ball guns!

Here is my take
(What we wanted!)

Large cast + special effects+guns, bombs, blades, claws+ good clever story+ R rating (Violence Blood Gore Goo…) = LARGE BUDGET!!

(What they did)

Large cast killed within first 10 min = fewer hotel rooms, meals and rental trailers + Kill a bunch of the Predators and Aliens = lower FX budget (more money to spend on closing credits and directors commentary for the DVD).

Film it in Antarctica = cheap (rent a ski resort) as opposed to filming in a tropical jungle (a place you would normally find Mayan type temples)

Make the film PG-13 so parents take kids = X-Mass rush on Alien Action figure sales and PS2 games!

Make Cartoon Series = more $$ (Hell they did it with Star Ship Troopers!!)

Spin off sequel…(The Pitch)…”AVP meets Star Trek”
(oh, and the nice thing about a sequel is since the studio killed off all the "expensive" actors in the first film there will be no revenue sharing!!!
