So when I moved here to LA I looked for 3 days to find a place... The place I ended up getting; which is on Wilshire and Fairfax; is an amazing place, really nice and clean. So someone from my building told me that there was a triple homicide on my floor about 4 years ago. Apparently a husband sent a hit against his wife, kid, and house keeper. Don't get me wrong, the apartment is amazing with great people. My question: is this justifiable cause to break the lease? I want to get out of here and move to a house. Antony
If you could work up an emotional distress thing about being so upset over hearing about the murders maybe you could get out of it somehow. I guess it's worth a try. Stuff like that really bothers me so I would want to get out of there after learning about it.
There's no disclosure for murders/deaths in a residence? Or is it a "if asked specifically, we'll give the information" situation?
he said "on his floor" so not sure that's such a big deal as in his apartment/whatever. i know i couldn't give a toss about all the condo thingies around mine... i already know it was full of zombies because this apartment block used to be a government office building.
Welcome to LA..... You can't swing a dead cat around your head without hitting an area where somebody was murdered in at least two years! If it's not a mental thing (which I would understand), I would not sweat it. Enjoy your digs and the cool FChatter's in your area!
I used to live off fairfax myself. I would run if i were you! Get out, dont come back. Leave you furniture it could be tainted by now.
There's not a lot a landlord can do if you break the lease especially if you apply the security against last months rent. What does the lease say? I started to include a penalty to stop tenants from doing this You just won't be able to use the place as a reference in future.
I remember there was a nice villa for sale on the lake here for a (rare...) decent price, beceause the previious owner hung himself in the house... Anyway, i wouldn't really care unless the neighboorhood is really that bad.... I remember i read once before visiting LA that if the neighboorhood has bars on the ground floor windows, you shouldn't stay too much around. And i guess if there are as well at the first floor, you should flee in panic Now for the lease itself, i don't think -but i'm NOT a lawyer- you can break the lease for that- I guess most houses in europe have seen some deaths (not violent ones though), but that's "life" or sort of... I mean, most places where you drive have seen deadly accidents, same for cars, for airplanes and airplane routes etc etc....So the fact that people were shot is not so terrible (if you ommit their own death, of course), unless it's recurrent
The only reason I would like to use this as an excuse is because the amount of money I pay compared to some girls house I went to last night. I have a 2 bedroom fairly large place and paying little over 2 a month. I went to this girls place last night and they had a 5 bedroom house with pool in the hills for 4000 a month. Nice place. I wished I found one other young person and got a nice house in the hills with a garage Antony * or Century City high rise...those places are real nice.
It is not that expensive here. I think its roughly the smae as any other big city. Even though I think LA is an over sized suburb Antony
ya know....the antony i know would undoubtedly have sealed this deal and moved in w/ her by now now...go get it done, closer
Tom she just wasnt right for me.....I need a good wingman here in LA. What are you doing next weekend??? Antony
