http://www.clubchopper.com/forums/t36334-40&pagenumber=1 Read this thread. This guys dog was missing and he called all the pounds from day one and to make a long story short the dog warden killed his dog even after he knew he was looking for him. I am so sick of people who know nothing about bully breeds having a distorted view. I have a pitbull and she is the best dog I have ever had and or been in contact with.
I sent this story to the ASPCA(animal cruelty folks) and posted it on Rennlist and Bimmerforums. I hope he gets whats due to him.
there is no such thing as a bad dog, just a bad owner. I know rots that are dolls and yorkies that bite everyone and are hella defensive e
Kind of a weird story. I hate to speculate, but it seems to me that there may be some back story to this we're not hearing. Why would an animal warden go out of his way to kill some guy's dog, bury it behind his office and then lie about it? If he's going to lie, why not just say the dog came after him so he shot it? Why go through all the trouble of concocting a story about the dog getting away? These wardens get a pretty good benefit of any doubt, especially when it involves a controversial breed like a pit bull. It makes me wonder if there's a history between the dog owner and the warden. Perhaps the dog was a problem dog, or there was some bad blood between the two men. I'd hate to think if that was the case that the warden would take it out on the dog.
I'm a member of a a few dog forums/retreiver forums. I own a wonderful Black Lab/hunting dog. Gilles27 brought up an excellent point! From reading the dog forums over the years, this is actually too common! Afton times these dogs are killed in transit! The dog warden will find a dog and put it in the truck. No water, no food, no air/ventilation. It seems all too common, especially in the summer (obviously) that a dog will die from heat exhaustion/dehydration. Gilles27...I think you are right! There is something else to this story. Personally, I read about this stuff too much! J
Amen.. My rottie wouldnt hurt a fly. And I do know Yorkies and Maltese dogs that have the Napolean complex thing and will bite anything that comes within 5 feet of it.
Why is it that people will easily understand that certain breeds of horses were bred for pulling power and others were bred for speed. Any buffoon knows these simple facts. Yet the doggie lovers somehow think that there is NO difference between a pit bull and a beagle or a terrier. If there is no difference in the inherent genetic make up of any particular breed, can we assume that pit bulls would also make good sheep dogs if we teach them herding tactics? And that grey hounds would make good arctic sled dogs? You guys are suffering from canine political correctness.
If that story is true, and I were that kid, I'd wait bout a year and put a bullet in that guy's head. Well, not really, but I'd sure feel like it =(
