When I replaced the right side (pass) axle boot it was bulged out from the heat. Later I had heard about the problem of pressure created by heat from the converter about 2 inches away. I had the rear bumper off so it was easy to get to the inboard boots. I read about relieving the pressure on an earlier post. I did some research and found some 1mm brass tubing. Cut them into 1 1/2 inch pieces by rolling them on a magazine with a good razor blade. After that I poked a sharp tool prick set I got from harbor freight to open the cut edge. Took off the small clamp and shoved a small screw driver between the axle and boot. When I lifted up the boot I could hear suction, indicating a very good seal. I inserted 4 tubes spaced at 12,3,6,9 o'clock. If you have trouble getting the clamp back on, get 2 thin worm gear clamps, put them together so the clamp is balanced and tighten. The tubes are K&S, got them at tower hobbies, 6 bucks-- You have to be REAL careful not to poke a hole in the boot or you are screwed. If you do not have lots of patience do not try this!!!
