Interesting, I stand corrected. I would be exhausted without auto throttles......and WIFI haha. I get your point though, in gusty winds on approach, AT's are useless especially on the GV. They just cant keep up.

My old boss flew Harriers in Desert Storm. On the way over to the Middle East, his squadron was taking turns getting fuel. When it was his turn, he accidentally disengaged too early and ripped off the basket from the tanker. Everyone had to divert while repairs were made to the tanker. He said he never lived it down.

Thanks. I do get it...if I don't, I die. And you guys get it too. So thanks!

Regarding keeping the boom still until the last second (as it seems) before it hits me in the face, it's always exciting...

I remember taking a tour of the B-2 assembly line at Boeing's Development Center in Seattle in the early '90s, and noting that, at least as far as structure was concerned, Boeing actually built a higher percentage of the airframe than Northrop did.

It was amazing, as a non-Boeing employee (this was as part of an AIAA dinner meeting), being able to see something that had been completely secret just a few years earlier. (In fact, for ventilation, the big doors at both ends of the building were wide open!)
