The CAF restored B-25 named "Maid In The Shade" made a visit to my home airport JYO in Leesburg, VA. I should have booked a ride in it, but saw the plane on its last day before it moved to the next city on its tour. Here's a video of it taking off at Leesburg Airport.

Post war, the B-25 was everywhere and a lot of pilots flew them to get their 4 hours a month and keep qualifying for flight pay. My father did that out of Goodfellow in the mid-50s when he was commander of Sweetwater AFS, TX. None of them were in that kind of shape, though. Good to see them still flying.
Excuse me for the double attempt to upload a file that didn't work. This system is still difficult for me to figure out sometimes. The constant pop-ups are a distraction, too.
Sorry you missed your opportunity for a flight. I was there as crew chief on the CAF Capital Wing's TBM Avenger on Saturday and Sunday as well as the past Monday when the B-25 arrived at JYO. I did manage to get some photography done in between working with the aircraft. My gallery is here: https://www.flyby.photography/flying_legends_tour_leesburg2018. I'll be adding some video to the gallery in the next week or so, as I get it edited. FWIW, the Capital Wing will be having an Open Hangar Day at CJR this Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM.
Sorry I missed the TBM Avenger "Doris Mae". I should go visit the CAF again at the Culpeper Airport (CJR). Great folks taking car of some warbirds. Here's a picture of the local Ferrari Club with the CAP Capital Wing back around 2011, I believe. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also, love your aviation pictures. You take some amazing shots. Here is a link to John's Facebook page if you want to follow it: https://www.facebook.com/flybyphotography/ .
At least the B-25s have done a good job at surviving. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the A-20 (one flying) and B-26 (none flying at present).
...or a B-36... ha (never happen - only 4 non-flying in existence). I grew up in Albuquerque under the N end of the N/S runway of Kirtland AFB... B-36's landed right over our living room often. Rattled the windows. Even that runway no longer exists.
