I have some tail numbers of B17's that my Dad piloted in the latter part of the war. Is there a list or site that can connect the #'s to the history of the aircraft? Please direct me to a link , etc. if you have any imfo.

    Thanks in advance,

    Edward

About all that a tail number would give you is the year that the airplane was contracted for and a sequence within a block of numbers on the contract. To establish a service history it would be more fruitful to have the unit(s) with which the airplane served. Wing, group, and squadron histories will have the I.D.'s of the airplanes assigned to it. Try that and good luck. Maybe I can help if you can come up with some unit info.
