Anyone up for a little Ice Fishing, for chrissakes!!!.....:)
Now I know. We really thought its better to start it and let it warm up rather than letting it sit there for a month and a half. It actually became our habit to warm the car up before we drive it especially during the winter. 36 days til spring.. then the day after that is my BIRTHDAY!
I just ran across this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/faq.php?faq=haas_articles#faq_garage_queens Nuff said; and an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
No, the bad thing about doing that is there is water vapor created when the engine heats up the cold parts. And unless you actually take the car out and drive it, to not only blow out any water that has accumulated in the engine and exhaust sytem, but also gotten everything really hot to burn it all up. The water will just sit somewhere and cause rust. Check out the exhaust pipes of any car when it has first been started up, and you'll see water dripping from the tailpipe. If that is not blown out from driving and burned up by getting everything really hot, it will accumulate somewhere and cause rust or damage.
I took the Lotus out last Sat in spite of the dusty roads. A nice drive; got everything hot. It hadn't been run in 3 weeks and I knew Sunday it was going to snow. Looks like another couple weeks until it gets driven again; I make it a point to take advantage of weather breaks in the winter. Ken
Same here. Unfortunately I missed the last break. Hopefully we'll get one again in about a week. Hope the battery lasts that long.
It got cold here today on the California coast too. I almost felt like rolling the windows up when we went for a drive south of Carmel towards Big Sur. Sorry - had to do it.......... Image Unavailable, Please Login
SKEW YOU! Real men don't roll the windows up....... Well, it's 16 degs now in Chicago, and I'm just 'thinking' about putting on a sweater; Probably won't though.....not cold enough yet! Yeah, I lived in Carmel, and made the run down Hwy 1 to Big Sur many a time. Only did it on the foggiest of nights though, that's what MEN do!!
It wasn't all fun and sun. There was some haze that obscured the horizon and it got a little windy, especially at the higher altitutudes..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks gorgous..I will be back in a few months.. Along the same lines as Darolls, real men live in Chicago.
I did... more so had to. If you were in your hood yesterday you would have seen a red Maranello, silver 360, and yellow Porsche zipping up and down Rt. 14. Was thinking about stopping by but didn't want to arrive without warning. Plus some of the cars struggled over RR tracks. Real men? There are real fans as one our your PD cruisers gave my convoy a thumbs up.
Along the Lake Shore yesterday some people thought they saw a red Daytona. Today I got the 308 out, even managed a powerslide. Made me feel real good.
It has melted enough that I took the Gallardo out this evening. What a wonderful reunion after a month of no driving. It looks like Wednesday was the peak, though. It's going downhill again.
Well hey..if you don't want to drive the Gallardo in the snow give me a call I'll do it. Hey..it's got AWD..
Just checked the weather for the weekend. It sucks, were going to have another snow fall. Hope it melts easily. It sucks, we were thinking of going to Gurnee Outlet Mall but its no fun driving in the snow especially in a sports car.
