Serious question folks. Back seat has those lap belts with bulky reel, I have had trouble securing our toddler seats with it (evenflow). Any brands that people have found that work?

    Thx

Went to a meet in Palm Beach Gardens yesterday, a nice family showed up in a Mondial. I'll see if I can remember the owner's (Darrell) screenname and PM him. He had a carseat in his 3.2.

How to enhance the beauty of a Mondial - - insert (in the back) an even more beautiful child!

    Cheers, hank

    rf - pure genius.
We got our Mondial when Robin was 3 - the smaller Euro booster cushion seats work terrific in the Mondial back seat.

Our grandson is just over 20 pounds at this point so I think he has to stay in the rear facing seat until he is about 40 pounds.

I have another one due in November, so the trick is going to be figuring out how to get TWO rear facing baby seats into the Mondial.

Won't be too long until the oldest is asking for the keys. I like to think the car will still be around giving pleasure to all concerned.

    Stay tuned!

at 20 lbs they go to forward facing seat, which is where the problem lies. Booster seats that use the car's seat belts are not recommended for cars with lap belts in the back only. Perhaps because the seat could dive under the belt?? I am thinking that replacing that bulky auto tensioner with a simple manual tightening unit could solve the whole problem. Had no problem securing car seats with that setup in the days before the LATCH system...

Not the 3.2 Mondial - US version

I've seen photos of modifications to add the harness style belts in the back - I recommend a search if interested.

I think the advisability of using the lap belt only will depend on the construction of the particular forward facing seat. Some of them have "pass-through" channels quite high up the back so that the top will not flop forward under negative G loading.

Exactly my point!!! The evenflow seats do not seem to work because of these high, narrow pass through channels. Other designs might be OK. Will try to search for the harness mod
    Thx

Bad idea!!! The carseat is designed for one seatbelt for securement....If any of you guys have specific car seat questions send me a PM---I am a certified child safety seat technician and have been for about 10 years. I have installed around 2,000 seats

It's not the one that is currently on the website. It looks like they may be sold out. The one on the website now isn't for the US market and is 10X the price of this one. This one seperates to become a booster seat when the child gets bigger.

whew! Makes more sense. Recaro also makes a nice booster/combo - have it in the minivan. However I think the problem is the retracting mechanism not the seat per se. Will look into getting parts to create an old fashioned manual seat belt in back
