Last weekend I picked up my car at Tim Stanford's shop in Ft Lauderdale and started the trip back up to Charlotte (I had recently moved from Naples and took the car to Tim before the drive up as it was running a little rough). Tim was great and fixed everything up, changed the fluids, replaced a couple of gas lines, cleaned up a few things and essentially got her running great so that I didn't have to worry about the 730 mile trip over the week-end to my new home in Charlotte NC.

I had originally bought my 308 back in 95 from Bud Root, who was at the time working for Shelton, and BTW the single best car sales person I have ever met! I have kept in touch with him over the years as I moved from Canada to Texas, then on to Northern Virginia, Naples and now NC....always driving the 308 from new home to new home and having a blast doing it. As it was pretty much my 20th anniversary with SN24865 and Bud's new location was just an hour up 95, I though it would be good idea to drop by and say Hi to Bud.

I stopped by a little before noon, had a great chat, caught up on the latest and greatest and got a tour of his new place (Palm Beach Ferrari). real nice Dino 206 on the second floor.
The picture below is Bud and myself, 20 years after we first met and SN24865.

The trip home to NC was pretty uneventful, a little drizzle around where NC26 and US95 meet, and a little more drizzle on 77 just outside of Charlotte, but other than that, a nice quiet ride.

I kept the speed to under 80 and stayed off the speed trap radars....others were not so lucky as I must have passed at least a dozen cars pulled over....and usually they had just passed me moments earlier (too bad for them). Averaged about 28 miles to the gallon which I think is pretty good for a 38 year old car with 4 double webers...and it was nice being able to fill up for less than $30 per tank. And right around Savannah at about 10AM Sunday, she turned over 80K miles. When I got her she had 36K miles...so 20 years and 44K miles later I just wanted to say thanks Bud and Tim, it has been a great ride.

Congrats JPL it's great to hear from long time owners. I would love to see more pics of your 308 I fell in love with a 84 grigio gtb and it broke my heart as I found out I was too big to fit comfortably inside but I think they are one of the most beautiful cars out there.
