Dave, you being a moderator should at least have the decency to close this thread as It has got way out of hand already.

I do not like to see people being bashed around, even if they contributed to it but especially when its grown adults thriving on a 14 yo kid who clearly needs to learn a few things. You know as well as i do that if this thread is here tomorrow, Vik will be banned, I know thats what others want but you as a mod?

Can you not just take his Thread starting options away for a while?

    CLOSE THIS STUPID ******* THREAD!

    Regards

    Matthew

Vic, I'm trying to ask the mods to close the threads because you wont be here in a few days if they continue.

I'm going to PM you so please just take my advice, dont post/reply for a week, lie low, read other threads and definitely do not start any threads for a while.

    Do you agree or not?

Matthew, I have an honest question for you (since you're a strong advocate for Vic). I appreciate the fact that you're trying to help him out, but if you clearly feel that he's not ready to post threads here, why do you feel so strongly that he should stay?

Again, honest question. I'm not trying to throw you or Vic under the bus, but I see this as a legitimate question.

I don't know about the Atari thing but what's the problem with the video? I remember not to long ago on this board people didn't think he / his father owned these cars. Now it seems he posts a vid that shows he does. He's clearly a car guy why don't you cut him some slack? He's 14, correct?

You'll forgive me, I know. Nonetheless, IMHO, if I were looking for a forum designed for children, I could easily find one. Regardless of who owns what , adult and reasonable is the theme. Let's keep it that way.

I'm with LetsJet, the kid is 14, so what? He is clearly a car enthusiast. I don't see any reason to ban someone over anything he has done since returning. The video didn't make me want to see it again, but no harm, no foul. Summer is pretty boring unless you go to camp when you are 14 in my experience.

You're very close. Aside from not using proper english (not your fault), mature, reasoned discussion about automobiles will get you accepted. collateral things are neither important nor relevant. Bragging is the sign of a lack of substance, and substance makes a man. This is just advice and is in your best interest. With regards.

Come'n guys, he's just a little kid. I do NOT think he should be banned- just disable his posting abilities. Fchat is a great resource and we shouldn't hamper an enthusiasts quest for car knowledge..

I think Kenny just hit it on the head.... I would really rather not ban young enthusiasts but sometimes they need a little bit of enforced etiquette.

Like said above, no harm, no foul.

My being a mod has tempered the responses I've given here on many occasions, and I've only been a mod a couple months.

Look, I'm all for cutting the kid some slack, matter of fact we already did, more times than I can count.

Bottom line is, this is an ADULT website. FOR car owners and enthusiasts, and Vic isn't an adult. I'm not even sure he's a well meaning kid, as opposed to simply a kid with too much time and to many of Dad's cars on his hands.

He was regularly getting out of line, got a six month timeout to think about it, and came right back with a brag filled post for his first entry. So how much slack should he get???

It's a tough world out there.

I'd like to add if he PM's me and asks me to close the thread, I'll put some consideration to it and ask a couple of the other guys what they think. I've gotten my butt handed to me on a couple of occasions when I closed a thread to save some pain, so I'd like to have some consensus of opinion before closing this one.

    + ! on that!!

I think if we delete posts from youngsters who are out of line, and give them warnings while they're doing it, we'll have a lot better cooperation from them, and a lot less crap will get tossed their way.

The general approach seems to be "let 'em sink or swin on their own." Maybe that's what needs revisiting.

Best case scenario, he's a troll.

Worst case scenario, he's a 14 year old kid with mental problems.

Why would you want to keep him here, knowing that this forum provides him with an outlet for his constant lies? If he is in fact that 14 year old kid with mental problems, don't you think that in trying to keep him here (or "defend" him), you would in fact be encouraging his problems?

Mike, thats a fair question but see posts above. I just think the mods need to maybe give him a nudge as to making things better. I'm sure they will if not already. Who knows what will happen though. Personally i think this thread and the DB9/612 and itchy dog threads are pointless now and just consist of immature banter. If Vic starts a genuine thread and others start going nuts, its those others that should be warned.

I just feel that with Vic coming back here, there were too many people ready to pounce. Thats my main point.

That's a fair statement. I'd like to see Vic do well for himself, I'm just not sure that he's capable yet. The dog thread was actually a good one on Vic's part. He brought up an issue and asked legitimate quesitons about the issue. I didn't see any problems with it at all. Hopefully people will cut him a bit of slack and give Vic the opportunity to fit in. If he's given a fair shot and blows it again, that's on him. If we never give him the chance, that's on us.

    Thanks for the response Dave.

I think your answer is fair and yes if people whether they be adults of teenagers get out of line, they should be warned and thats what i want to see happen here.

In Vics situation, someone with responsibility should have a word and warn him not to put himself in such a vulnerable situation by posting threads like he did, especially as that was what caught him out last time.

In the abusers situation, they should be warned for ruining threads that indeed seem genuine. For instance, in the off-topic section Vic posted about a problem his dog had, fair enough and some people gave genuine answers then came the muppets going on about his dad and bullsh1t like that. They should be warned too.

    If neither comply, boot em!

Its a two way thing Dave.

    Regards,

    Matthew

At Vic's request, I'm gonna close this thread.

Anyone who has a problem with that, please PM me and we can discuss it like adults, thereby setting an excellent example for Vic.
