Long drive.... As we got there we where welcomed by a man who called himself, "Capristo"... (-:, so I got to talk to the guys around the shop too, Saw the welding jigs, tools and finished producets, and got some good "exhaust" talk with their tech... But here is what I brought back with me.., cant wait to fit it on Monday. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice. You should do a few dyno pulls before and after you install it, to see if you make any power gains along with the better sound.
I wish I had done that befor the capristo install. Though I don't think there is much difference on a 355...
Didn't do that either. But it doesn't matter. The sound quality imporvement from Capristo alone is enough to make you forget about any hp gain or even loss.
Lars, is it a level I, II or III? I ordered a Capristo level II, from Germany, and it will arrive in two days...I hope!
Its level 2. I had a good long talk with their tech, and we decided that level 2 was the best, I like the loud scream sound, but would still like to drive my car thru the city without the cops on my trail I just installed the system today. a complete 3 hour job, very easy and fit very good! I havent driven the car yet, but the idle and reving sounds awsome!!! Very deep idle! and then she just screams at 4000+ rpms.
Post some pics if you can (especially from the back), I am leaning toward Capristo myself too. Also, what do the Capristo systems go for, like the level 2 you got? Thanks, Armen
I will post a vid and some pics later. The tips are bigger tahn stock, and look really good. The box itself is not visible from behind. 2600Eur is the normal price
That is just awesome! Although I have yet to hear one in person, it is on my upgrade list for next year. -Bill
Anyone for a group buy? I could be interested. I've had my eye on Cappy's ever since I heard them on the F355s. At first I thought the F1 wail was due to the 5 valve configuration but it appears not. Can't wait for the vids to verify.
Lars, congratulations on your new Capristo! Capristo's in the USA are avail from Nicks Forza Ferrari. I am the largest US distributor & I sell to other independent shops & dealers in the USA. I have a very close business relationship with the owner Antonio. Capristo have a lot of great new products coming to the market such as FULLY adjustable exhaust systems for Ferrari, Lamborghini & Porsches, They have a OBD2 had held unit that will read most CEL issues along with a it also being as accurate as a Dynojet for displaying & factoring HP & TORQUE along with other great products! Another fact is that Capristo has an IN HOUSE Dynojet for their development & testing, most muffler manufacturers do not, also Gothspeed, you are correct, the 348 muffler no longer hangs down below the muffler & has not for over one year now. I have the best knowledge & customer service on Capristo products in North America due to my close relationship with the factory. Potential customers are always qualified & I always recommended the correct sound profile for my clients for their lifestyle & personalities. I have seen a bit of Capristo bashing here on F chat on some threads by a certain few & I can tell you one thing, Capristo's service along with mine working as a team is second to NONE. I have yet to have an unsatisfied Capristo owner that I am aware of that has purchased a unit form me. TO combat this bashing, Antonio Capristo has now implemented that all mufflers now come with a 5-YEAR transferable warranty! Another fact is there are approx 5,000 mufflers built & out in the world over the last 3 plus years & if they were to have a few problems, I would consider that from a percentage amount to be very little. I have yet to sell a muffler & have a issue other than a bad valve damaged during shipping, or a remote control that needs a re set or some cracked isolators on 360's due to incorrect installation procedures or rattling valves on the 360 twin sound systems due to no preload adjusting during installation. The only problem I have seen is a crack at the weld of the metal tab that ties the two tail pipe tips together on the 360 system, but they have been old systems & it is also a quick 10 minute tig weld fix, but typically 99% of the problems are caused by the technician during the installation. I have seen threads where guys have said they have seen or have Capristo's that are rattling form the inside. To this day, the Factory or myself have never seen a muffler with internal rattles, it is not possible! The 348 muffler no longer hangs down below the muffler & has not for over one year now. If anyone is interested in purchasing a Capristo, please contact me & I will get you into the best system that suites your needs. Our prices are excellent & I will price match anywhere in the world, but I will not be beat on Knowledge of the product & service before & after the sale. Always buy from an AUTHORIZED Dealer or Distributor. Tel 360 410 1949.
So Nick, are you also doing the 348 Twin Sound in the USA? I have just got the first 348 Twin Sound in the UK. It's AWESOME, and yes, you can get the F1 sound in a 348! I wouldn't have believed it myself but it's real. The hotter the car gets the better the sound from the Capristo. Now if only it would stop raining over here I might get to try it again, seriously addictive!
Havent driven mine yet, but when it was just idling warm in the garage, the note got deep and more agressiv as it warmed up.. cant wait to get it out on the road, this weekend, ill make a vid too.!
I wish I could, I don't have a Video camera.. Angelis will have to pop down one day with his new fangled HD video camera.
Capristo has some new systems comming out with valves that will be programmable at what RPM range they open, it uses a controller, it is very slick. Lagerlout, I hope you get some sun over there, it was a rainy winter & spring over hear, so I can relate with respect to driving your Ferrari. Get Angelis to video tape your car with that great sounding exhaust system so these guys can see & hear your valve system! Check this video out of a MC12 CORSA with a programmable exhaust set up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02WWQyRR0Jw#GU5U2spHI_4
Sound improvement is a great thing, but what about the power improvement? Do they get some more power from the engine? If so how much? Capristo has got to have some sort of dyno sheets available.
