I tried to be good and just wait a little while longer for the roads to smooth out, but I gave into long-simmering temptation and broke to 328 out today. After nursing it out over the pot hole riddled side roads at about 5mph I got her out onto Rt. 95 (nice and clean) for a 20min run up to speed. After nearly 4.5 months in storage, she started on the first turn and ran like she'd never slept.

I think we were both happy she's out of hibernation although I've got a little dirt to wash off her tomorrow. I should feel guilty for not having any self-control, but in this instance, I just don't. Let the season begin!

    Doody,

I figured you'd be out yesterday. I was blasting around with the top down all over Sherborn and thought we might see each other. I got pulled over on the flats on rt. 27 heading into Medway. Officer was very nice and gave me just a warning. 69 in the 55 zone. 1st time pulled over in 5yrs with that car. Whew.

Yeah, this weekend was great to just drive and enjoy it all.... Took the car out on Friday briefly and then most of the day on Saturday. Dropped by to see Darin and Joe at Boston Sportscars and then over to see Natalia and Nick at Ferrari of New England to hang out for a bit....

It was strange to see people hanging out of their cars to take pics of my car while driving on 128 - it's been a long time since that had happened.

I guess the best part of the drive was making other peoples' days by simply waving, giving them a thumbs up, or beeping the horn. I think we all remember those days of wanting a Ferrari, so it was nice to give them all a thrill!

The joys of nice weather driving is upon us now...

Heard Nick got bumped up to GM and that Natalia is now the Maserati sales manager. Never met her but will be in there next week for service and was going to try and find out any info about the next generation Maserati. Was a great weekend to put some miles on car and Looks like you put a bunch on. I somehow put almost 100 miles on just doing local cruising around Mhead, Nahant and even spin down around the willows then a nice ride down 127 to Glouster. Would have been a nice day for top down if it weren't broken

Out here in the snow belt there's still too much salt on the roads. Hopefully that will be washed away during the week and we can resurect the 328 on the weekend. I've never seen Massachusetts roads this bad as far as potholes go!

I had pulled a u-turn at the x-fer station entrance and was heading back to Sherborn center and ran through 3rd gear pretty well. Marked SUV coming the opposite direction. Put the lights on immediately. As I said the officer and his partner were very cool.

Well, I've paid, or am about to pay, for my impatience (and stupidity). I was sitting in the 328 manually rolling it backward out of the garage prior to a warm-up start in prep for a nice drive when the car came to a sudden, crunching stop. My open driver's door caught the garage-door rail. The door jammed, bent, scratched and will not close without some force.

A momentary lapse in attention will now cost me a few weeks in the shop and bucks to-be-determined. Maybe I just should have waited for the thaw?!

You know, its amazing how childish elation can plummet into hopeless despair in the span of a mere second.

man that just sucks big time, dude. sorry to hear :(

if it'll make you feel any better, here's an even stupider stupid human trick....

the torsion spring on one of my garage doors went. i had to get my car out (an E39 M5 at the time) of the garage, so i busted myself lifting the damn door up (ridiculously heavy material - since gone). it took me a while, stacking crap underneath it - raise it a foot, stuff something under, raise it another foot, and so on and so forth. finally i got it up and i had it fully horizontal and thought i'd push it back just a bit more so i could tie it up or something lest it fall back down. i push it back a bit and the top-most panel of the door falls off the back end of the track and swings down over my M5. now this is the part that has that "L" shaped metal bar attached to it. yup. whack whack whack - big-ass dents in the roof of my car as the damn thing swung through a full 120 degrees or so and then whacked it again on the way back. i was just beside myself in awe of my stupidity. my garage door railes now have fully defined and unambiguous stops for those damn panels at the back end.

    Doody,

Thanks for the support..I don't truly don't know which upsets me more, the damage, or the sheer stupidity which led to it. Anyway, I think I'll make some lemonade out of these lemons and have Tubi installed while she's in for the door repair! When your horse throws you, get back in the saddle!

    PMDDMD,

Ack - that's hard to read! I think most of us have a story kind of like that. Our first boxster was not fully in gear once and the e-brake wasn't engaged. It popped out of gear and rolled in the garage door......

    It's a sick feeling. You'll get that 328 tip-top again I'm sure!

I picked up my Mondial Cab on Friday. FoNE completed the 30K service and its running great. It was a hard drive home though...... I was told that I need to keep the tach down until everyone is playing nice internally.
FoNE did a great job. Although the car ran great when I dropped it off last fall, it seems to be running better. One metric is that it cranks right over now where it used to take a couple of trys before the service.
I cant wait to drive it again. It's painful to let it sit in the garage, but at least I can look at it, sit in it, smell it and listen to it now. Yikes, should I be looking for a shrink?

Got my first run on the 348 in today - wife and I ran up to the ocean in ME - roads had some salt on them but not bad - gave her a good spray down after the run. Man I know why I have one.

Ouch.. Sorry to hear. This story takes me back....to when I was in High School, prepping mom's new Volvo station wagon for my first car date. I had just finished vacuuming the back seat and realized I was running late. Jumped in the front seat and proceeded to bee-line it out of the garage, when the rear door that I forgot to close completely swung open and caught the 'lip' of the garage entrance. I panicked and hit the gas. Yup. Peeled rubber and bent that door all the way forward, touching the front drivers door. I had to climb out the passenger seat. Twisted the B pillar. I couldn't stop my mother from yelling or my dad from laughing. Dad, knowing what I was looking for that evening, tossed me his keys.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you guys the next time I visit (the house still has a 'scar' on it)....they're in Salem, Ma.

    Regards,
    Kevin

Know that sinking Awww SH#$ feeling well.

Last fall my son & I pushed my 308 out of the garage so we could use the lift for emergency pad replacements on his brakes. When we got his car out & went to push it in, We gave it a hard push to get it up on the 2x12 blocks I use to get it up where the lift will go under it.

Just as the front wheells went up on the block, the car jumped fwd out of our hands & cracked the spoiler into the garage steps.

What really hurts is that this time last year I completely restored the spoiler, it looked mint when I was done.

We'd miss-positioned the rear blocks by about a foot, just after the car rolled up on the front blocks, it rolled off of the rear blocks, gaining a surprising amount of speed in the process!

No serious damage, but it'll take a couple of weekends to pull the spoiler, repair the fibreglass cracks, then repaint the damaged area. Luckily I've got plenty of color matched paint.

Five weeks after my self-imposed debacle I've heard back from BSC. The 328's back from Hatch with the body work "better than new"...Door closes, window goes up, paint fixed, crease but an unpleasant memory. Darren called me up at work to let me hear the engine roar with the new Tubi on board...It nearly gave me a...well, you know. Just waiting for the 4 new Michlein Pilots to be installed along with an alignement and she's ready for our reunion. Just a few more days!

As ridiculous as it sounds, I've got that same feeling I used to get as a kid in the days leadig up to Christmas...oh, the anticiaption!:)

After six weeks, much sadness and an undisclosed amount of $$$, I finally got the 328 back from Boston Sportscar today. To say the collaboration between BSC and Hatch resulted in exceptional results would be an understatement of monumetal proportions. The door damage, absolutely undetectible, new Tubi, outstanding. After installation of new tires and an alignment the car handles better than it ever has! I bussed and cabbed down from Maine and the drive back from Weston was among the best I've had..stops in downtown Boston and the North Shore included.

Just want to thank those in the forum who recommended BSC and Hatch to handle my repairs. Great advice! :)

Glad all's well in the end.

I'm sitting here all broken hearted. Found the hose that we'd left off that was keeping my car from running right. Picked up a new battery Friday. Decided it was too late for a test drive, figured I'd get up this AM & run some errands, come back & detail it. Instead I'm doing indoor HoneyDos & watching rain come down... :(
