Hi all, after a couple of exhausting -working- weeks back in Belgium, and resuming my search for the "perfect" 328GTS or 308GTS Alvan Motors in Gent is getting one in this weekend so will go and check it out. Anybody have experience with this garage, they sell lots of Lotus but also Bugatti and some other exotics. Also, I should be hearing soon from the Ferrari Club Belgio, where someone will sell his to get a 430... so, we'll see... All the best, Frank P.S. sold my SLK :-( perfect drive for a sunny day but can' t start a collection yet $$$
Frank, Not sure you'd want to deal with international shipping and inspection, but... There's a gorgeous European spec 328GTS red/tan at Motorcars International in Springfield, Missouri. LHD. I would've bought except for California smog regs - never could register it here. 24,000 miles (km?) on it. I haven't seen it, but was talking to Randy there and he raved about it after we knew I couldn't buy it. I sold my SLK as well - to raise funds for the first F-car. Great car, but I'm ready for something sportier. Best, Jon
not sure about this, but i've heard that they're a couple of lawsuits running against alvan motors one at least is after trouble with bugatti. they used to be the bugatti importer in the eb110 era. i live pretty close to alvan motors, used to pass it every day on my way to university. there always used to be 2 paganis on display i've recently noticed that there are no more paganis to be seen. not sure if they lost that importship as well. these are just rumours however, i have no personal experience with this garage. just thought i'd let you know anyway...
Hi Frank...I know nothing about Alvan Motors but look forward to welcoming you to the privileged circle of 328 lovers Cheers, MARK
Hi all, visited Alvan motors today for a testdrive with the 328 GTS they had; here's the results: model is a 12/86 GTS; originally sold in France books are present as well as maintenance records car has also been imported in Belgium and was sold again (by Alvan) in 2002 to French buyer who now sold it again to Alvan km indicated is 28,000 Testdrive was fine although it was raining as expected, my leggs were touching the steering wheel, but otherwise everything seemed to go well. Probably steering wheel spacer should solve this Now some questions: 1. I noticed water leaking in through the section between targa top and front windshield: is this due to bad rubber and can it be easily fixed ? 2. During first couple of minutes, I sometmes heard a whistling sound from the engine bay, garage told me this was normal due to the Bosch system ?? After that, it went away and didn't hear it anymore... 3. Car has French fog lights at the front, i.e. yellow, can these be replaced with standard white ones, are they easily available ? 4. There was a rubber item missing from behind the side window black cover louvres on one side, thus showing a small hole with some early rust signes; behind the other side louvre, the fuel cover did not have the leatherette protection, there was also no cover inside for the targa top; are all these items still available at decent price ? 5. Service history was a bit schetchy, although major service was done at 20.000 including belts, but back in 2001.... new major due soon ? 6. Other than that, car seemed in very good condition, asking price is 38.000 Euros, any thoughts. If one of you 328 'experts' would have the time to go and have a look at the car and give me an opinion, always appreciated (car is also advertised on autoscoot.be). Cheers, Frank
Hi all, have found a nice 328 GTS red/tan example which I will test drive next week. Sold by Gipi Notors in Brussels (anybody know the company ?), they seem to do lots of historic restaurations, noticed 5 aston DB5s in their garage... Has 64.000 km and 2 previous owners with full history. Price : 38.000 Anybody in Belgium interested in coming along and giving some advice, let me know Cheers from Karachi (27C) Frank
Maybe you should check, www.forzaservice.nl, choose "showroom" there you'll find a nice 328 GTS with only 20.000km on the odo. Asking price was 50.000 euro last june. Maybe it sells for less now. Forza is in Holland a well known F-specialist. The owner Alex will not let you take a car from his showroom unless it's perfect so no leaking or service due. It is in Oss, in the south of the Netherlands.
Frank, I am always interested to help. Send me an email @ [email protected] and we will see if we can work things out. When do you want to go and have a look? Ton
