    Hello,

Just got a F360 with sport seats. Wonderful, I love it (see below)... however, can hardly drive it because of back pain. Been driving many other 360 with Daytona seats without problem, been driving Lotus Elise perfectly Ok (and god they are hard!)... actually, I did not realize I had back problems before that.... Am I the only one? Any idea?

    Thanks!

If its low back pain, you can try a small cushion on the lower part of the seat to support the low back. I have sports seats in mine and I love them!

Try a 308 some time. If you take a road trip you need a Chiropractor on board.

not a problem... you're out of shape, it's not the seats... take the hint and start a simple exercise / stretching program... a couple a days a week for a few minutes... most of our back problems are due to lack of exercise ( mostly from spending too much time in a sitting position) the muscle tone gets out of balance... how do I know... I have severe back issues from abuse, accidents, and several spine surgeries... I control my issues with exercise, pain flare ups come when I get lazy and go away with exercise... if it ain't broke, exercise will cure it...

:( Back problems are way up the list on reasons for doctor visits. :( Lower back is probably the largest subset. Take this stuff very seriously! Exercises & stretches are right on! Learn how to do them. Be very careful with the seat issue. V E R Y careful. If it's (the seat) causing pain - something is wrong, and it won't get better. This assumes other car seats are fine. Add support as necessary, change the seat, whatever. Once lo-back pain turns into leg symptoms, it's a whole world of $#!t !! Back crap has got to be the slowest healing of injuries.

I'm sure if you wanted to swap out with someone that would be easy. Or, find someone that wants to sell their stock seats. I'd just put stock seats back in if they bother you that much.

I am not sure if the 360 has this sat feature but if it does tilt the seat pan down in the front. By having the front edge of the seat pan lower it makes it easier to sit ergonomically correct.

To show what I am trying to explain, sit in any chair and raise your knees so they are higher than your hips and see what happens at your low back. It flexes or rounds. This puts your spine in a bad posture and over time causes back pain. Now sit closer to the edge of the same chair and make sure your knees are below the height of your hips. It should put you in a better sitting posture or at least make it easier to sit up straight/tall.

You can also buy a wedge cushion and place it the seat pan with the thicker part of the wedge touching the seat back.

This is excellent advice. I always had the seat pan titled up on my BMW and Lexus. I tilted it down flat and at least 50% of my back pain disappeared.

a 45 degree angle is best for sitting in according to studies ;)

NSLBP has MANY potential causes; the pressure on the spine, specifically the lumbar region during prolonged car rides is largely a result of spinal loading and non rotational tourque during specific movement patterns while in the car.

elevation of the feet is known to decrease spinal load so if you can, try lowering the seat so as to be in a position where your feet are being "lifted" up while using the pedals :)

back pain in the lumbar region is closely correlated with lack of type I slow twitch muscle fibers in the extensor area. During the Sorensen test [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjbxlwtOFN8[/ame] is a valuable tool in helping lower back pain as it was discovered that lack of endurance (i.e type I fibers) and not strength per se was the main culprit behind chronic and many times acute lower back pain. In one study the individuals who could maintain a static Sorensen hold for longer than 60 seconds were found to have DRAMATICALLY lower rates of NSLBP. Correlation or causation? who really cares, it works ;)

which is one of the reasons why losing weight in the trunk region helps to lower back pain. less weight to maintain= easing up on fatigue of the back extensor.

Wow! I did not expect so many replies, thanks, that's my first thread as a Ferrari owner:)

I am going to order a custom made cushion that matches the exact seat specs and location of my pain.
I also initially thought I would swap with some Daytona seats, but that is not that simple. There is the power supply, the security belts to fix, etc... (I don't say it's impossible but may be I can swap the whole car :) )

...and yes, I am seriously considering some exercise, stretching, etc. At least, my wife will find that something positive can come out from this Ferrari ownership experience ;)

I have the electric Daytona seats and have been struggling to find a comfortable position in the 430. The seat bolsters are too high and wide for my taste and there no way to get around that problem.

Coming from a patient, not a doctor, get new seats or trade it. When my back goes out some seats just hurt, while others don't. It's really that simple. Excercise is good. Bolsters are good, etc...but seats are like shoes. If they hurt when you try them on, buy another set of shoes. don't hope they'll "break in" as the salesmen would have you believe and don't go hunting for inserts to make them better. Just buy what's comfortable.

I hope you find an easier solution.

    Good luck. :)

    and nice car, btw :)

Dcate I hope you are wrong but I feel you are right;)
The book of Sarno seems related to psychosomatic disorders. I thought this kind of trouble were specific to women (kidding inside) and were not really proven... But I'll be open minded (this time) and check out this book, thanks! A pity there is no french translation by the way :(

I would see if I can locate the exact area of concern, and see if a custom upholstery shop that specializes in car seats can alter them to fit you better.

If French is your first language I would read it in English and then make a page of notes in French. I read my notes everyday outloud for two weeks and my pain went away forever.

I hope it works for you, be sure and read the testimonials in the first pages...It helps get past the idea that it is for women :)

I just recently picked up a set of “Large” sport seats for my 360 prior to a track event.

While the seats did a admirable job on the track keeping me from flopping around, I did find the drive to & from the track (1 ½ hrs each way) uncomfortable on my derriere & lower back

I too am looking into supplement seat pads/cushions to add to the bottom & lower back area. On a side note…….I still have my stock electric seats to swap out, so that also might be an option.

If your car was originally delivered with the sport seats your passenger side wire harness & connector are probably stowed inside the console. If you remove the screws on the side of the console, along the floor line, you can pry the side of the console up a bit (it’s plastic & flexible to some extent) & fish the connector out.

The wire harness & connector are the same for both types of seats; the pins supplying power are just not used for the sport seats, just the seat belt warning light/buzzer.

So it really isn’t a big deal to swap out the seats. They do use different mount points (already there) & bolt sizes, but the seat belts bolt right up.
