Was just discussing this with my friend last night. According to the Movie "back to the future 2" we would be flying our cars just about now. Do you guys know of any car makers that have those plans of producing flying cars? Also, do you think the exotic car makers would be the first out to do this or will it be the big companies? Another question: if you could choose between a flying honda accord or a non-flying ferrari which one would you pick if the price was the same :)? Thanks

Before automakers even give it a thought:

    * scientists will have to come up with a means of hovering a vehicle that is cheap, safe, and reliable

    * governments and other social agencies will have to work through the issues of what it will take to form "roads" in three dimensions (most likely, only pros would be allowed at first)

So, more likely than growing "up" from cars, it will grow "down" from airlines. So, bussing and public transport will start using the technology. Once it becomes common there, then MAYBE we'll consider (as a society) allowing "non-professionals" to use the technology. If and only if we decide that's okay... then car makers will start designing and building vehicles to serve the new market.

Just saw something on the discovery channel the other day about this, a man somewhere has built and tested 2 models of hovering/floating cars and he says if you got a million to spend you can have a one seater in about a year,he is also working on a two seater model

It'll never happen, at least not for a good 100 years at least. Can you imagine scoccer moms, fighting with the kids, applying make-up and talking on the cell, all the while flying under IFR on an instrument approach to her drive way, behind the flight controls of her Sport Utility Aircraft.
