i have the red tach. i am happy with it and would choose it again. the red color shows up best in daylight.
Seriously though, I prefer the yellow tach, as it compliments the yellow horsey in the center of the steering wheel. I think the look was more striking on the f430 and 599, but for me yellow works well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I have the yellow on my current F430 but am not so sure if the yellow would apply well with the 458 interior dashboard layout. Reason being the 458 instrumental cluster now has LCD on both sides of the central rev counter and most of the colors utilized/featured on the LCD screen is mostly white and black, so I am torn for choices between staying with the conventional yellow or to go with the standard black or pay for the white?
Left screen display: RACE mode is yellow. I believe yellow looks great. Sport is White. Wet is light blue.
Interesting default color setup for various Manettino settings which I am unaware of... Any pics to share for Race mode?

Thanks for these pictures. Since I'll be driving in Race-mode most of the time, the Yellow that I've chosen remains my preferred option. And yes, I like the fact that it matches the horsey on the steering wheel too.
I have never noticed this. But if I did I could turn on the lights which would backlight the tach. Never had to do it. Anyway LED steering wheel would make this a moot issue IMVHO. Looking at the admittedly small sample size of our poll, looks like yellow has the best resale value regardless. Best
The popular Yellow dials [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixdLlFqOEQo]Ferrari 458 Italia Gauge Cluster Revving - YouTube[/ame] Standard Black dials [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXNhpdzluGQ]Ferrari F458 Start Up Sequence - YouTube[/ame] The standard black dials look really dark but rather neat when lit. Does the back light of the black dials option on permanently when the car is powered up irregardless of the head lights/daylight position?
My opinion: My 458 Italia had yellow and my FF has yellow. After having yellow tachs for a long time I decided to go for the standard black when I ordered my 458. I am so much happier with black. The yellow looks great but during the day, even on sunny days, it is hard to read and just feels too dark. There doesn't seem to be anyway to manually illuminate it. Even if you turn the headlights on during the day the backlight for the tach seems to be controlled by an illumination sensor and won't come on until it is dark enough. The black tach never suffers from that. For my next car I'd definitely spec the black again.
Black for practical reasons because it is the most legible, yellow for style. I chose black for my 458.
Some may disagree but I find the white tach to be difficult to read in comparison to the other colors.
