Did you see the TopGear episode last night when a 612 was driven from London to some place in the Swiss alps to see if it could arrive quicker that two guys taking public buses and air travel. While the 612 did win by a nat's hair, it did have a loud buzzing noise for a good part of the trip that annoyed the driver. While it turned out to be a bad windshield wiper blade buzzing in the wind, that should have been caught by Ferrari before they turned a $250k+ car over for a road test on international TV!

I wish I had seen it. I'll have to catch the re-run.
I would just put a Tubi on the 612 and I doubt you would here that noise. :)

I saw the program as well, but I understood that it was a mechanic that had lent on the wiper arm. I really don’t think it left the factory like that. Not to mention how horrible the test cars get treated. But I agree it wasn’t the best press. I recorded it, so ill have to watch the ending again. Fantastic car though, I saw it this weekend at Road America.

I watched the episode too and Clarkson(the guy driving the 612) says he loved the car at the end of the show. He said at first he wasn't crazy about it but as he spent more time with it he loved it. He was having a blast drivng it and I don't think it was bad PR at all.

So a mal-adjusted windshield wiper will stop someone from buying a 275k GT? They wouldn't be the right customer anyways. There was much more positive in the clip that overshadow the minor wiper problem.

    Great car.

I have that eppisode on my computer. if you google search you can find torrent files of top gear

It was a nice review of the car but it didn't have the passion or emotion that it should have. Clarkson did a much better review of the DB9. Lots of witt and a sly coolness to it. That was pretty absent from the 612.

But I like the line about it being a Playboys car.. It most certainly is, with just enough room for all the girlfriends!

That wiper was bent by a mechanic. There would have been no way to realize it until the 612 got upto speed on the highway. If these type of minor problem's bother's one, BUY A LEXUS.

Instead of opening in WMPlayer, right click on the link and "save as" in a file folder, at least you'll have visibility on what's happening.
The download throughput will probably plateau at around 5KB/sec, RacingFlix limits download speed unless you take a membership. That's their business model. If the download throughput is lower, their server is under massive load or your cable modem speed is limited by a teen on the same subnet as you downloading movies.

A more geeky alternative is to use Bit Torrents which allow to download big files in parallel slices. Very effective for large files. Full Top Gear episodes can be found as Bit Torrents in excellent quality (withouth copyright owner authorisation though so it's technically illegal to download them), and they are about 350MB each.

The premise of this thread was the buzzy wiper. That was your "bad pr" . The wiper was bent by a factory worker, its not really anything to do with the 612. I think if you re-watch the video while not half asleep you will discover Clarkson really liked the car.
