For mild weekend racing I replaced my original brake pads on my 83-308QV with Performance Friction ( Carbon Metallic) pads. I fell for the written hype. Result is that when my car pulled to the right in braking, I checked the pads and less than 1/3 of the pad was in contact with the disc. The center of the pad had just disintegrated, and that's on all 4 wheels!

I sent the pads to Performance Friction and got absolutely no help there. They asked me how old they were and if that was the original box they came in!

Now that I have the OEM back on, all is well again.

I have used the Performance Friction Z-rated pads for years with no problem at all. However, I no longer have that Ferrari.

In contrast to this, I have had Ferrari OEM pads (one out of four) chunk out on my 360.

I now use Porterfield R4 pads on my 360 for track as Performance Friction doesn't make pads for that car. The Porterfield R4 is more aggressive anyway, so that fits my needs for track use. I'm about to try Porterfield R4S pads for street, but haven't gotten there yet.
