Bruce is right, you aren't the police or a lawyer, So I guess all the info you receive is from a bad rerun of Chips. I live that life you can only pretend and give your opinion. So enough said-- I'll go find some ***** to write a ticket to.

if you give a ticket to someone because you are in a bad mood, or because of something I have said, then that makes you the *******. a cowardly one at that.

thanks for proving my point. ***** - what a cute little word.

Get Discovery in the case. In NJ, you are entitled to recieve the entire case against you ahead of time so that you may prepare a defense (should be the same in most states). In NJ (ten years ago) this cost $10.

Find out from your state's DMV if points transfer (try to find documentation to support this fact).

Factor in the cost of the lawyer when you do your analysis.

If possible, go to court (with or without the lawyer). This is a very good and very useful life experience.

    Good Luck,

    Art S.

Lest we forget, that since I do not hurt anyone or society in general, then YES, by definityion, cops are only good when they are good to me!

If I am not out there causing injury, then why should police do me harm? Explain this phonomena to me?

I have a great deal of respect for Law Enforcement, one of my good friends is in the CHP. The kind of **** he deals with every day is amazing. However he knows that does not give him the right to prejudice and abuse the next person he meets.

Seriously, drop the bully attitude. You are not out there to intimidate, cajole, or threaten. You are there and SWORN to "Protect and Serve". Perhaps you remenber taking that oath, let's all think about what that really means.

Since this has gone completely off the topic, we can continue this via PM or another thread if you like. I'd like to leave some room now for the poor poster to get his ticket resolved (FIGHT IT MAN!)

PS: Faisal, stop using my account, use your's please.
(you can tell which posts are his, his english is better than mine!)

Ok guys, thanks for the advice, I am going to do some research on how the points transfer, etc, and possibly go to court to see about reducing the amount of points and or speed over.

Louisiana does not use the point system. I'm pretty sure Mississippi does not either. Even if they do they don't affect you here.

You need to worry about keeping it off of your driving record. If you get another ticket in a few months you don't want a speeding conviction on there if you plan on working out a deal on the new ticket.

You need to talk to the prosecuting atty before your court date if you want to try and work out something.

I got a pretty bad ticket when I was pretty new to driving...similar circumstances to yours as well. At one point on my drive home afterwards I had to pull off to the road to sob for a few minutes. It was the sickest feeling Ive ever felt and utterly humiliating going home to tell my parents. I was able to get out of court and go to traffic school to get the ticket off of my record. Luckily my insurance didnt take a huge hit. Its a harsh price to pay but an important lesson at the same time. Just keep your head up and try and be strong. You will survive no matter what.

    Good luck!
