New to Ferrari & Forum. Have owned a lot of the other brands but finally decided its time for a Ferrari. Was leaning towards 488 but think Portofino better suits my lifestyle. My question for the experts: is this a bad time to buy a Portofino? Prices seem consistently high throughout US and with the M version hitting the dealers soon, are prices expected to drop on the regular Portofino's? Really like this one but will try and find one in Rosso Corsa if I can.

Not necessarily looking for the deal of a lifetime, just don't want to overpay now if waiting 6 months saves a little $$.

    Thank you!

Quarter million dollars for an entry level Portofino is just crazy and unjustifiable anyway you skin the cat. Prices will not be negatively impacted by release of the M as Ferrari doesn’t work the same as a traditional marquee.

Unless you absolutely need back seats, there is no reason to not go for the 488.

The Portofino is a great car and that is a reasonable price for a very nice spec.

I've been driving a 458 Spider for the last four years and have an order in for a Portofino M at $330k. I've driven the 488 and F8 and they did not interest me anywhere near as much as my 458 and the Portofino M.

Just speaking for me, but I think we're at a high point in valuation. That said, life is short too, you could be waiting more years for the prices to come down. Or 6 months later, prices actually go up! Nobody knows for sure. My advice is to test drive both, listen to your heart. A Ferrari purchase is just as much about your passion as logic. One car will 'speak' to you more. Go with that one. Find out what your comfortable entry point is, take a look at previous depreciation curves for that number, then make your move. Pretty simple as that.

I have an M on order. I love convertibles.
Watch some of the reviews of the Portofino.
Most reviews of the car dispel the myth of entry level. To the contrary it fully lives up to its intended audience and price point.
I find that the Porto fits a sweet spot for those wanting a GT convertible and that want something unique from the typical stuff.
It’s not intended to be a track weapon but for the street it’s more than you will ever need.
I also have an 812SF however don’t see the need to pay $500k+ for an 812gts. It’s too much delta to put the roof down.
Just sold my 488 spider and have an F8 spider on order.
Each car has its specific purpose.
If I had to pick just one Ferrari the Porto might have to be it. It does everything well.
Also had a Cali that I put 20k mikes on over 3 years and loved it with no issues.

Don’t think prices will be coming down in 6 months. Maybe 12-18 months.
    Don’t wait. Enjoy now

    This is exactly right.

However ... I'm fearing an aluminum shortage... So who knows what the future may bring.
