Bahrain is typically a two pit stop race, however, has been done with one before. Could that explain Kimi's slowness in Q3 coupled with the 7 kg difference with Massa? But then look at the weights of the BMW guys - it would appear that Heidfeld would have to stop before Kubica, Heidfeld has done one stoppers before. Perhaps the rear wing end plate which is acting like a diffuser has given the edge to Vettel despite the increase in kilos compared to Button? All bets may be off when someone fails to negotiate a turn correctly causing sand to be spread on the track or if the winds blows significantly. We will know after 57 laps tomorrow how it all plays out! Carol
As we all probably expected the two Ferrari's alot heavier than the cars infront. If no one makes any mistakes they're looking good.
Brawn seems to have a problem over one lap but not in the long run: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241028
Did you guys watch the SpeedTV post quali interview? Vettel teased Trulli, saying something like "We'll see how soon they pit." Trulli responded by saying that he runs faster with a heavy fuel load because his car handles better. Seems like Vettel had it spot on. Toyota is the lightest fuel load on the grid. I guess they haven't figured out that they don't need to lie anymore regarding fuel. Vettel will win it on Sunday. Toyota won't be on the podium.
Looks like Kibica will be on a one stopper. I wonder if Toyota is going for the 4 stopper, a la Schumi style?
You don't really believe that, do you? Ferrari can consider itself lucky if they get one point out of this.
holy fuel Kimi. Brawn's advantage seems to be decreasing with every race. Ferrari were looking a lot better (especially Kimi) in Q2, and Vettel looks to be in the best position.
Sorry to burst some bubbles but the Toyotas aren't that light. Massa and Kimi though are VERY heavy. Pitstop prediction: Driver________Q3 time__Weight__Fuel__Stop lap 1. Vettel is the only one in that group that matters though as far as fighting for the win. I don't think loading up the Ferraris with a heavy fuel load was the way to go as they've been having problems with tire degradation, especially with the rears. I could be wrong. Toyota's hope for the day will be to keep Vettel behind until they pit, then hope he hits traffic. Toyota and Brawn have about the same pit strategy and I'll take Ross Brawn's strategy over the current Ferrari strategy any day of the week. Given Brawn's choice what makes you think later is better?
Thanks for posting this....it almost solidifies my thought earlier about the BMW being on a one-stop strategy. Carol
