To be sure. This is not the forum for politics but for F1. My concerns aren't ideological or moral but practical. The way the FIA and Bernie have handled, and are handling, the affair raises concerns about their stewardship.
I completely agree. This whole thing just has a residue of scumminess about it. The very complex political issues aside, both Bernie and Todt are coming off completely out of touch and I think this raises serious questions about the current and future governance of F1 as a business. Bernie is crazy like a fox, but I really believe this time he's drinking his own Kool Aid. He continues to act as if F1 is his own personal plaything and in the process is putting the reputation and image of all of the teams' various sponsors at stake. This stunt of excluding Force India from the qualifying TV coverage smacks of gangsterism and is very reckless and shortsighted. That probably sent a shiver down the spine of every major sponsor up and down pit row. Can you imagine the NFL or Premiere League being run like this? I can tell you important people in the boardrooms of those companies care about their carefully guarded reputations and are just praying nothing else major goes wrong and they don't get caught in the middle of a PR ****storm before this is all over.
Yes that's why he had that vile side kick porno Max doing his dirty work for so long. Todt ...well the jury is still out for me on this issue, I haven't seen or read anything from him.
Yes, I actually never realized the thing about Force India, if there is any truth in it as in zero coverage, that is a Mosley type trick and I hate that sort of stuff with a passion, I think I have found a new team to support and another scumbag to hate.
Heroes are tougher to find than scumbags. I just came across a piece on the Pitpass web site quoteing JT. He's toeing the company line. We've been giving him the benefit of the doubt since he took office but as far as I'm concerned he's as bad as Max in his own way.
TV headline news on now, Bahrain clashes, 10K+ protesters out on streets police snuffed them out with tear gas and live ammo. With a dead body that had been beaten dumped on top of a shed. It's kicked off again tonight, bloody idiotic state of affairs, disaster for all concerned, only massive police numbers are keeping it from kicking off. Yes I know we are not there and we can only go off what the TV shows and press say, but still in my mind, the F1 circle can stay in safe bubble, and say nothing, or dare not say anything, but reading between the lines this is the case, no matter what is happening outside the gates of the circuit.
A promo for the upcoming network newscast featured just two headlines. Bahrain and F1 are national news in the US. You can't buy this sort of coverage.
Oops. I neglected he ironic emoticon. At this point I'm sure that, no matter his bluster, Bernie would rather have never heard of Bahrain.
Tricky to know for sure, you know the old saying, there is no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary. ..
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/apr/22/f1-force-india-bahrain What a sordid state of affairs. It will be a tainted victory for tomorrow's victor, IMO
As Marie Antoinette was credited with saying about the starving populous uprising "let them eat cake". The then "1%" soon met a date with Mr. Guillotine. JD
Anonymous have launched a DDoS attack against www.formula1.com and brought it down. It's still down as of 12:20PM here in Singapore.
It's back up now. They will probably hit again close to the race. Looking at the Worldwide DDOS stats they aren't really using that many computers which shows the F1 network is pretty cheap/crap lol.
So, do we reckon FI will be black balled in the race too? Bernie's claiming we only want to watch the front runners - I'd love to see 'em out front.... Cheers, Ian
That is low trick to pull, Bernie what a sneaky bastr'd, on the news here there are calls for them to cancel the whole thing. GO FORCE INDIA.
