Day two... 1. Räikkönen Ferrari 1:30.593 (77) 2. Badoer Ferrari 1:32.231 (64 ) 3. Glock Toyota 1:32.883 (74) 4. Trulli Toyota 1:33.371 (61)
Kimi Raikkonen and Luca Badoer each worked on different programmes with a little help coming from the improved weather conditions, which were milder and presented almost no wind in comparison to yesterday's session. The World Champion carried out a Grand Prix simulation, including the three qualifying phases and an entire race, complete with refueling and tyre changing pit stops. The scuderia's official test driver concentrated on general development of the F2008 and testing of different set-ups on the car. Last year Bahrein GP pole result was F. Massa - 1'32''652.
P 4/5 and Dino Competizione will be at the Bahrein GP in the F1 Enclosure. If any of you will be there please say hello! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, Do you have any pics of you transporting P4/5 by plane? Is it crated or just on a dolly? Would love to see the loading/ unloading if you have it. Do you travel with any spare parts or tools? Simon
She gets strapped down to a pallet that is moved either on an automated track or by special handling vehicles. We don't take any spares or tools other than wheel wrenches in case of a flat which is always carried in the car. For the Prototypes we have a heater built into the oil sump and carry a transformer and hair drier to warm them before starting. You have to get most of the fuel out/disconnect the battery and tape the leads/remove fire extinguishers/ (P 4/5 has a system that is OK to fly as it is gas generation like F1 cars). We never crate them or cover them as we've found if people can see what they are they're very careful. Italian Customs did hang onto 0846 for an hour while they woke people up to see her, she passed through the airport in the middle of the night and insisted when they stamped her paperwork that while in Italy she had to use her MO-53 Prova plate not her NY Plate. Since 911 you really can't take photographs inside of Customs/Air Cargo. Best
Jim, I may be able to make it to Bahrain for the weekend while the cars are there.... if so, hope to see you. Mike in Kuwait

Both worked on general development of the F2008, concentrating on comparisons between different set-ups on the car. Massa was doing various set-ups Badoer's work from yesterday but had an hydraulic problem at around 15:00 and his car was returned on a truck after he had switched off the engine. After 90 minutes he went out on track again, the problem wasn't too big and seemed easy to repair.
