My Mondial t (same engine as 348) shunts slightly at low RPM and also when you release the gas pedal instead of slowing down smoothly it tends to slow down in the same way initially.
It's not a major problem but it was perfect last year when I bought the car and has gone off with use. It had a new airflow meter on one side a year before I bought it, but did minimal mileage after that.
I wonder if the left/right banks of the engine are slightly out of synchronisation. Is there any way I can check for this and adjust it myself without specialist equipment?
It looks like the accelerator cable attaches to a pivot at the rear of the engine and then there are two adjustable rods, one to each throttle body.
If it's not the cause what else could be causing this slight shunting?

The throttle bodies are a very sensitive and precise calibration. You will need the metering done to insure proper running. I would take them off and clean them and then reinstall replacing all the gaskets insuring no leaks and then have them calibrated.
