I don't know if you folks have read the news about a 19 year old kid from our neighborhood who has made history by stealing 3 airplanes from here and numerous boats and cars plus many home burglaries. He supposedly taught himself to fly by reading manuals and using computer simulators. His latest escapade has taken him from Puget Sound to Indianapolis where he stole a Cessna 400 from a secure and locked hangar and flew it UNDETECTED to the Bahamas. He landed in the shallows off shore and so far has broken into 5 homes, stole a car, and broke into three restaurants. I think that this guy must be on the outer edge of smart to be able to do the airplane thing but flying Cessna 400 1100 miles and hit his navigation mark and landing in the surf without killing himself has got to be a tremendous act. Rob, isn't this the airplane that you recently purchased?

I hope he gets caught in a 3rd world country where they take theft seriously.

If he gets caught here the hand wringers will just want to get him therapy.

That has already been offered by some well heeled misguided " hand ringer". I was glad to hear that the Bahaman police are using dogs AND shotguns in their search. He now is armed and has threatened a home owner. No more kids jokes, time to end it.

    He is extremely smart.
He isn't hot wiring these cars and airplanes, he is picking the ignition switches.
He has an inherent talent and ability to adapt to what ever situation he is in and thinking way ahead of his actions, (he DOES have a lot of time to think when hiding).

Each airplane he has stolen he has wrecked. One in particular he landed successfully in a clear cut forested area (Granite Falls) and walked out without a scratch, probably setting down on a logging road and crashing into the stumps when he ran out of room.

He circumnavigated the no-fly zone around the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in another stolen plane on his way to Idaho without garnering the attention of air traffic control.

He was offered a reward of 50,000 by a private party to turn himself in. He didn't take it. He moved to Oregon where he stole a 450k yacht to get across the Columbia river where he made a 100.00 donation to an animal shelter then stole a Cadillac Escalade for his trip through Idaho (again) on his way to the mid-west.

This is going to make a great movie.

just had a feature on him.

As a 6-foot 5" white guy, he's going to be easy to spot in the Bahamas.

News story mentioned he broke into a restaurant and found time to update his FaceBook page. Guy's got balls!

I don't think he's wrecked all the airplanes (depends on your definition of "wrecked" I guess). I believe he's landed successfully several times.

    I should have said damaged.

Like the one on Orcas. He used the runway but left stuck in the mud. Not sure if it was on purpose or just ran out of room.

MARSH HARBOUR, Bahamas (AP) — A fugitive U.S. teenager who has successfully eluded teams of local police and FBI agents may have slipped off the island where he allegedly crash-landed a stolen plane nearly a week ago, police said Friday.

Authorities are investigating a report that Colton Harris-Moore, dubbed the "Barefoot Bandit," has fled Great Abaco Island and was spotted on Eleuthera, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) to the south, two police officials said.
