It takes a special skill to turn a fun thread into a **** smearing slug fest. Why am I not surprised that happened here. C'mon guys, just once can we keep a light thread light? Only here can we find the underlying drama in almost every thread no matter how inane. Dave
Dunno. But it seemed like 'light years'. Glad to see you're back (on form), Dave. I'll put you back on 'ignore' again, now.
I can only remember one time that I was banned and it was for inappropriate language...go figure! It still says it in my profile...Grr!
Never banned but came awfully close a few times, once in "Political" for a nasty exchange with Chaa (he got banned when he totally lost it)and the rest for a bit risque pics in the Bikini thread.
I am pretty new here, but I read the rules regarding nudity, profantiy, copywritten pictures, etc. Does someone get a "permanent" ban for repeated flagrant violations, or a single major violation? Does a member have a virtual punch ticket (meaning X amount of small bans = permanent ban)? Not that I plan on trying to get banned or push the limits, just curious.
No hard and fast rules. Mods try to be fair and look at intent, attitude and circumstances (like honest error, prior warnings/bans and provocation). A new user that spams from the beginning gets thrown out right away. A long time user that has had years of contributions and gets a little hot in a response gets a lot more leeway. Also depends on the sub-forum since each has its own mods, the actual response might be more or less tolerant compared to another sub-forum. Overall, figure 3 small strikes or one big pop-out; but moderator discretion over-rides all. However, the fastest way to turn a temporary ban into a permanent one is to play games and re-register under one or more additional ID's during the ban period. You can ***** about a ban to the mods by e-mail or on the forum after the ban ends; but you don't have the privilege of forum bandwidth during the ban.
Yeah, he can just wait until next year at Cavallino! Hahaha... I'm still surprised you recognized me, Tim!!
Hate it? Come on, you know you love it. So far I've never been banned, but if I do, it will most likely be because of P&R.
one holiday here commented in a crash thread and it was deemed inappropriate....7 days from memory...
I've been bammed several times. I think the latest was showing the full cover of this Genesis magazine signed by Marilyn Chambers (Ivory soap girl & porn star of "Behind the Green Door" fame) for my father while he was flying for TWA. Judging from the numerous personalized signed glossy 8x10s he had, they ran into each other several times...
I must admit, i have been banned. Why?............ ask dave he knows. What is the record dave? I'm at 6 and counting. Somehow I think i might be a piker though. Who is the real champion?
I've never been banned from any forum apart from once on here. I posted some pics in silver with swear words in and got 24 hours. I've seen some of the more regular posters do it at least once with no problem so I assumed it would be ok and that the rule was not policed. IMO the rule should be enforced accross the board or not at all, otherwise it is just unfair.
There is at least one person here who considers their being banned as a badge of honor. Knowing they will come back in 24 to 72 hours, it's no big deal to them, as it gives them some time to think about the next thing they will post to ruffle the feathers of others.
Not badge of honor but chink in my armor. The decapitated head of a Ferrari driver involved in a high speed crash was pretty graphic. The anatomical parts of a womans breast on the cover of a magazine was not exactly National Geographic. Ive learned to use the * character in writing. Censorship is a given & I can deal. This is a valued site & that I wish to continue to benefit from & contribute to.
